I don't know where to put this, so I figure here is as good a place as any!

Do any of you (both gals and guys) find that you have a really great reply to a thread on here, and you type it up carefully, read over it one last time, then delete it without posting? I do that frequently. Sometimes, my answer is not as great as I thought and I decide it's not worth posting. Other times, I realize that my answer is just a bit too personal to share over the internet! Occasionally, I find myself changing my opinion as I work through the response, and have to delete it because I no longer agree with myself. More often, I find it helpful to just type up a response to make myself work through a difficult topic more logically, but that response doesn't really need to be shared.

So, do any of you ever do that? I'm just curious to see if I'm the only one who over-analyzes every little thing before posting.

bcpianogal - I think you should post your thoughts, whatever it might be. Just post it tastefully and tactfully. It is good to share your thoughts and views because not only do we get to learn about you, but you probably have something to grow in us by sharing.

This site has been very theraputic for me in that I get the chance to release my thoughts about life, my spiritual foundation as it applies to stuff happening to me now or in past, and it feels good. I've bonded with some folk here, and it's been a genuine experience so far. Even responding back to some of the posts that interest you will show you just how much you've grown as the Holy Spirit gives you a word to give back to us. Wow....

Even if someone doesn't agree with what you post, that's ok too, because we're all not made the same anyway, and besides that if we all did agree on everything, wouldn't this world be a boring place?

Be in anticipation with what the Lord may be trying to do with whatever you have to share, and be in wonder when he uses whatever you offer to glorify Him in some way!

Yeah...I do it too. Sometimes I'll be typing something and realize I'm being completely hypocritical...which really can make you feel kinda krappy. Anyway...I don't think you're alone, and I do think you should use your own judgment. If it's not good enough for you, then it's probably not necessary to post. Sometimes I wish more people had that filter:goofball:.

Yes, I do the same sort of thing, only I usually don't bother writing the thoughts down. I think doing this has saved me many a times from putting my foot in my mouth; from being hypocritical, inaccurate, or insensitive. When I do finally decide to write something to post, I'll read it over quite a few times to make sure I'm not doing any of these things. It's not fool-proof, but it helps.

These are some interesting responses! Keep them coming!

For those of you who say I should just post whatever I'm thinking...well, sometimes it's just not really necessary (or appropriate) to post ALL of my thoughts. Not that they are "bad" thoughts or anything. Just as I try to think before I speak, I try to think before I post. It keeps me from saying things I'll later regret. I still post a good bit, and I think my posts really do reflect who I am!

I've made a few posts here and there that -- well, I couldn't do them any shorter and get my ideas across. Upon re-reading them; I've wondered if anyone followed my train of thought. A few times, I don't think *anyone* did! lol -- Since then I've done my posts in Word first, and have tried to post on threads that have more 'targeted' topics (as opposed to ones that can be more theoretical and 'multi-topical' or multi-dimensional). One thing I don't like about this forum is: we don't have forum user profiles. As a result, conversations don't last long. I mean, only your last five threads are 'trackable' unless you copy URLs. There's no notification if someone replies to a post or thread you made (and if you don't look or remember where you were, well....).. I would probably post more if this was more like a regular forum. (But I'm getting off-topic).

Also, I have a tendency to post things on the web, (whether in a chat or forum), that I may 'hesitate' to say in person. It can be difficult to assess where people are at without voice inflections, eye contact,. etc. Sometimes its not what people say, but what they don't say. (I think I'm rambling)....thanks.

Rick, I know what you mean about tracking your posts and replies to those posts. That's frustrating. You do know, though, that you can click on "history" under your profile pic on the forums, and find a record of ALL your posts on here, right? It doesn't help you narrow down replies to those posts, but it might remind you where you posted so you can find them more easily!

Yes, I knew about the History thing, but forgot (till right after I posted) :dunce:

One forum I post on has an unlimited edit feature. You can edit posts, like a year later! And in terms of one or two here & there (on this forum) -- well, this other site has a delete post feature too,

Okay, I'll think more extra hardly next time: Merry Christmas! :purpleangel:

I don't even think (most of the time) when I post. Sometimes I will post when I'm sleepwalking! Like right now...ZZZzzZZzZZZZ.

The good thing is that I will read what I just wrote to make sure of syntax, punctuation and clarity (this doean't always catch everthin)....(see!), but it does help me to ensure that I am making some sense.

As for filtering....I wish that I had the filters a lot of you have (it would save me some grief) alas, that part of my brain is hardwired and works on it's own (and that's the truth and I am sticking with it!).

The bad thing is that once you hit that button -- it's out there and you can't get it back to deny it or change or delete it....kind of like life...huh?

So...pink before you thost!

Peace
