I think I'm about to become very unpopular on this forum! I know the question was basically "Do girls play video games, and if so, which ones?", but I'm going to take my answer a step farther and explain why I don't play video games.

The only gaming system (if it could even be called that!) that I've owned was a Game Boy...the old black and white kind from the early 90s. I can play a killer game of Tetris, and I'm not bad at Super Mario Bros. either! :nahnah:

But I don't play video games any more. I will play the occasional game of Spider Solitaire or Mai Jong on my computer if I get bored, but that's it. I have my reasons, of course!

1) Video games are often expensive...enough said.

2) I know from my Game Boy days that I can get addicted to them very quickly. I don't want to be a video game addict, so I just don't play. I also get frustrated if I can't figure something out or can't win, and it's not worth getting frustrated over.

3) Many games (no, not all) have graphic violence, profanity, and even some sexual content. I don't think that's very God-honoring, so why would I intentionally make that a part of my life?

4) Video games can lead to repetitive motion injuries, and as a professional pianist, I don't need another injury...I already have tendonitis!

5) I'd much rather curl up on the couch with my cat and a good book, go for a walk outside, play the piano (or flute, or organ, or violin), talk to friends via phone or facebook, or hang out with family and friends.

6) I like "real" games much better...Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue, Checkers, Uno, Phase 10, etc. They allow me to be sociable with other people while playing them.

I'm sure there are other reasons too...but these are what come to mind right off. They are in no particular order of importance!

Now, bring on the rotten tomatoes...

I never did play them and hear what BCP is saying~they can be addicting because I have seen my sons play them all day! The wrist thing is a factor too.

My spare time is spent writing for the internet because that can bring in big money if you are a good writer and treat it like a job.

If I did play them it would be the pleasant ones with other people cause I am a social butterfly~:purpleangel:~and it would be my last option for boredom because the great outdoors in my biggest passion. :applause:

To each his own, though~~love board games with the family~in person!

I admit that I do occasionally play video games. I dont as much as I used to, since I have college work and better things to do in my time. I usually play racing and football games. Though I do occasionally play Call of duty. But I dont play the graphic violence, nudity type games cause Its disgusting and not right.

GTAIV - as close as it gets to being in a "virtual city'

Crysis - two years old but still the best graphics on PC

Batman Arkham Asylum - best superhero game EVER

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - best/fastest selling videogame of all time

Heavy Rain - hasn't come out yet, but supposed to be new genre in gaming..

I don't know...I hate to use this...but maybe it's because guys are more visual. Using my sisters & mother as a control group of 3...my sisters like to play donkey kong, super mario world, and tetris every once in awhile...but you throw "3D" at them and they lose interest real fast. My mom just asks, "how in the world do you know what you're doing?". I just don't think very many women think it's as much fun as guys do. Just like guys don't understand some of the stuff women do for fun. No excuses though. Video games are a waste of time....like reading books/watching movies/board games:nahnah:. The upside is...video games actually make you smarter...and a better driver. That's right. I looked it up. It's on the internet, it must be true!

I like to play video games, but I only play them when I am at home for holiday breaks. I don't play them at all when I'm at school.

My family has a wii, a game cube, and an N64. My dad was the instigator. It's something he can do with us girls. :-p

I like to play mario kart and and similar games, but I much prefer playing them with other people and not against the computer. I really don't care for graphic violent games.

I'll admit that the Sims is one of my guilty pleasures. We have Sims 2 and I think Sims 3 is on my sister's Christmas list...I don't like playing single player games too long though because after a while I'd rather be doing something with other people.

Don't waste your time with sims 3, its too steps backwards. Sure the graphics are better but that's about it. Unless you have a top computer you won't be able to max out the graphics to experience the difference anyway..

and they have removed a lot of the features that were available in sims 2.. despite their claims about "personality" the characters are just as flat, the AI hasn't improved at all.. its really more of the same old same old, but requires more hardware and they get to charge you all over again for the game and all the items..

Everthing is a waste of time. As a christian we are really just waiting for the rapture when it comes down to it. Shopping, eating watching tv, working out at the gym, video games, its all the same. It amazes me that some people like to put others down because their form of entertainment is not kosher. Grow up people.
