Do New Testament teachings that it is better to remain single if one has the discipline to do so apply today?

Jesus in Matthew 19:11-12 and Paul in I Corinthians 7 both state that it is better to remain single if a person has the discipline to do so.

Personally, I think that remains good advice for today. Persons who are single and celibate can develop friendships with persons who share common, goals, interests, and morals. But remaining single gives a person freedom to serve God without needing to meet the needs of a spouse.

What do you think?

Yes that is good advice because it is from the Bible.

I do not think the percentage of people want to Remain single in the USA. Maybe for various reasons them do. You can serve Jesus married as well as single. I know couple that do very well who are "Believers" not just have the Label christian.

I think those in ministry like Monks or Nuns have a special calling from God and maybe they have the Will to stay with the choice of being Celibate.

I heard of my Priests falling from their line of Work

so maybe they are not supposed to be Priests in the first place although anyone Can Fail if they do not Follow what God is leading them to do.

Many on this dating site men are not Christian from my experiences and it is Christian Dating site. Your character How you treat people are important.

Its all about Choices and many people make Bad choices and then blame other people, men blame women when they have had 1 or 2 bad Women in their life, so the Christian Dating site need to Clean house of those.

Maybe the TRUE christians can find a good Person for a date/LTR or marriages.

I do not like being attacked on all my postings on a forum most Women just Avoid posting with attacked by men.

CDFF is starting to have Rules and that is a good Thing especially when Many members are Paying since 2026,

Moonlight7Lady, Thanks for your insights. I basically agree with what you wrote.

A marriage that enables two people to serve God more effectively than they would individually and that prevents them from engaging in fornication is a blessing.

Sadly, many who are married seem to put their spouse above God, and/or seek a spouse for the wrong reason(s).

I'm thinking even more so today!! I agree with you, folks are looking for marriage for the wrong reasons. You start with the wrong reasons and you have recipe for disaster ( as you know ). Maybe folks having a hard time finding someone is a good thing. Folks are being very careful of who they choose and that is a really good thing.
