Who is your Provider

The following Q&A raises the question of who do you look for as your provider. Do you look to God or a Man (husband)?

Quote:

I think it's a known fact that the husband is supposed to be the provider for his family, less he's worse than an unbeliever, an infidel, if he does not/cannot "provide for his own."

...IMO, this means food, shelter, clothing, nothing else, no extras.

OK, But that scripture in 1Tim 5:8 is talking about the widows in the church. What Jesus said was to not worry about what you eat or put on because He knows your need. So how can a wife then criticize her husband if he does not buy her the new clothes she wants?

Exodus 21:10 lists the three things a husband must provide his wives, "her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish." Food and Clothing is covered by Jesus who said not to worry about it, right?

But the "duty of marriage" speaks of something else. This is THE "Relationship" and all that goes with that including children and of course, Love.

Why do so many people think of husbands providing only the worldly goods, and her real needs get overlooked?

Because Love requires a special sacrifice "an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." Eph 5:2.

This sacrificial love offering is for all believers but it is restated in Eph 5:25 for husbands, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word."

So instead of buying your wife the new clothes and taking her out to eat it would be better to give her a bathe with your words of Love.
