It seems like a lot of the women I talk to are used to recieving a wink instead of a message. I always send messages, mostly because most of my friends are strong, independent women who would find winks demeaning. But now I'm curious. Do you prefer someone sending you a wink or someone sending you a message???

I don't find winks demeaning. I just appreciate a guy who actually puts in a little effort.

Sending winks make sense on a paid site because you might want to gage interest before subscribing. But on a site where the sending and receiving of messages is free it's pointless/lazy and I completely ignore them.

I am one of those who hates wink. What is the response to a wink? Messages here are free, so as opposed to sending a wink, why not send a message if you are genuinely interested.

Exactly. It doesn't take much effort to say, "Hi."

I like both some people aren't as forward as others so a wink isnt to direct it's more of a subtle sentiment like a note saying hi vs a l (message) which is more like a letter asking a person to be more engaging. Jmt....

If you want to actually chat with me- a message.

I rarely even look at a profile just bc I recd a wink. A wink is nice if we have chatted before.

Messages on this site ARE NOT free. Unless you pay for a subscription the person cannot read your message nor would you be able read theirs.

So winks are appropriate. However, I find most women on here are so uptight about these things. I think we all have extra baggage (if divorced) that comes into play and not in our best interest.
