My sister's to be honest I've always had my own concept about what defines them. But lately I've pondered about what others thought and if to some, could they all actually mean the same thing? Can you share what you believe they mean to you?

I think, I don't really understand your question. Are you asking how people define "Help mate," "Soul mate," and "Life partner" ? My definition is simple. Those three all describe the same thing. The word you are looking for is "wife" or "husband." A help mate is someone who is with you everyday of your life and you help each other. A soul mate is the same person, but it describes the relationship so we understand that it's a very close relationship. Soul mates understand each other on every level. In other words, you feel like he or she is your other half. A life partner is someone who is with you throughout your life and is married to you. These are very simple definitions. They all mean the same thing.

Alive defined the terms very well :-)

A help mate gives you a hand in your journey. That lifetime help mate is your life partner. Life partners usually share the same frequencies that is why they are soul mates.

-----I always pray to God that He will lead my life partner in finding me. If my soul mate finds me. Is that destiny or an answered prayer? i don't really think that those two are irreconcilable.

my question in fact is, what about those who do not pray for their life partners and eventually get married. Did they end up with their destiny? is that what we call "grace'?

personally i find "marriage" as the seal in boy-girl bonds regardless if they end up with or not with their destiny. the persons they marry become their default destiny.

Alive777 and Graceandservice, to give you both the benefit of the doubt, I overall agree with your comments. However you'd be surprised how many people see things differently!

Alive, you mentioned that I'm looking for the words "wife" or "husband", to globally define all the terms. I'm glad you bought that up because to us in the world of Christendom that may possibly be true, but for example in our secular midst you have many who believe a "life partner" is just that....a partner, not necessarily a spouse.

This is interesting because to be honest, I didn't see this post taking on this different shape, but this to me is more important! To add another layer of discussion....how do we interpret societies definition of "soul mate" or "life partner", when having to possibly converse with a non-believer about what these terms mean to us as Christians?

Yeah I went there quys.......sorry(smile)!

"soul mate" was a invention of a card company and "life partner" was a invention of the homosexual movement. I find neither applicable to me. Marriage is when two become one, when the old selves disappear and a new unified person is born.

Ummmmm brother Rambo....interesting response! I say that because I will be the first to admit that I use the term "life partner" frequently! However when I do, I say it with it's intended meaning to be a man and women of God, after finding each another, being united as one before Him!

"Helpmeet" seems to be the closest for us who believe that it's definition has been long standing for united love and it is also biblical!

I guess how one interprets or accepts another's interpretation of anything, will more than likely justify their thinking or beliefs. The most important thing though is that God's truth is rightly divided!
