Hey, I just had a week long email conversation on CDFF with a guy who ended up informing me that because I disagreed with him in regard to how I was using a certain spiritual word (which was different from how he was using a certain spiritual word), I was not a Christian. The word is unimportant, mostly cause I would like an answer to the question I pose below, and not a discussion on who was right in our views.

In response to this final email, I blocked him from being able to email me again . . .

I am just wondering if you all have had some sort of similar experience and how you have dealt with it? How do you deal with this type of conversation over email?

Thanks!

Sister, dont You remember Jesus telling us,it would be like this?

i once lived in a lil town that had two churches, the preacher of the church i did not attend, would gang up on me with His lil posse of deacons, and derate me,because i believe Jesus Christ is the only Begotten Son of God,and,They believe Jesus Christ is GOD ALMIGHTY.and they would tell me,"YOU !!! Are not saved enough."

We speak our own fate.....

or,

as we judge we will be judged?

What!? Call yourself a Christian and not believe that?! I jest of course, but here's one I'm sure you've heard already...

"Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"

He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"

He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"

Northern ConservativeBaptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over."

Thanks for your comments guys, but I am really wondering how to deal with someone online, over email, who is degrading me by saying that I am not a Christian (btw, the first email I sent to him included the words "I have accepted Jesus into my heart, and he saved me" so he knows that I classify myself as a Christian).

I have no idea what to say to this guy, or any other person who has jumped to this extreme. How would you get this person to understand, especially over email?

I don't think you can persuade someone to change their mind, certainly not quick and easy so it's probably best to break off contact if you can.

What's more important is that you don't allow such accusations to rob you of your peace and the certainty of the promise that "if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you shall be saved".

"don't allow such accusations to rob you of your peace"

Amen to that.

Well, if you found out over e-mail you had different beliefs than thats a good thing. We are not to be unequally yoked, and the short just being saved. But the long-hall for a relationship is extended to being like-minded in the walk with Y-shua. For example, I am Messianic; I celebrate Pasach (Passover).. We are commanded to celebrate it forever. I have been with a man that kept trying to tell me the law was dead Im not sure what law he was not talking about because to me the Torah is not dead get the point. Now yes I could be with a Non-Jew but never one that told me I had to stop being Jewish!!!!!! Well its the same point. People not like minded dont work. Yes opposites attract, opposites work in personality but NOT MID SET. THANK G-D YOU FOUND OUT SOOOOO SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that it's not about the exact wording, but the principle of it. That being the accusation of not being a Christian because you disagreed with him on something. Legalistic much? Stubborn much? The only good thing I see in this is that you got to see his true colors quite early. I think you dodged a bullet there.

Don't let his brashness upset you. It's not worth engaging him when he's already decided that he can't be wrong. You deserve and will find better, my friend. :)

Christ gave us the answer to those who will not hear. Cast not your pearls before swine.

Ignore him and move on.
