Filipina Christian says she will only date a foreinger, even if the Filipino man is a Chrisitan.

This seems like a red flag to me, and that being yoked with a Christian should outweigh the race of the man.

What is the opinion of the Filipina Christian women on this topic?

Maybe she has had bad experiencs with Filipino men. She may have other reasons.

Everyone has preferences...some right, some probably not so right, others just the way we're wired...why do some like blondes, brunettes, tall, short, etc?

Well, first, there is the simple mystery and sexiness about a foreigner (especially the accent). So I get that. But the statement you made about what she said cannot have a real answer without knowing stuff. I hate to state the obvious, but what does former mean? Is she in the U.S. with a green-card, and are you the foreigner over there? Thats a strange statement!!

But to answer the question a foreigner I would choose over an American, but not be the only type I date.

boughtwithaprice,

Well,Filipinas are all different. And everyone has their own preferences, tastes, and personal reasons. Maybe she had a painfull experience with a christian Filipino,or she can't find a real one to love and give her security,or maybe she find excitement a new life overseas,or else she find foreigners more attractive than Filipinos. These are some possible reasons. I'm sure you will not hastily jump into a decision or stituation that seems like a red flag to you, right? Perhaps, you should know her more, after all it really takes time to know someone.

God bless you.

As a Filipina and a mother to two young ladies I do wish them to marry Caucasian men. But sad to say that ever since they were little girls when I started to joke about it and up to the present they are not interested. My eldest one also expressed she dont want to marry and never had a boyfriend.

Why Caucasian? Almost all our movie stars here are half breeds. A Filipina, even if she look like a monkey to some, if married to a Caucasian seems to produce a work of art. Also, to my observation, those who have foreign husbands tend not to age compared to their friends/peers married to local drunkards, wife beaters, idle gamblers. Their peers looked haggard and 10 or 20 years older compared to the balikbayan with kids looking like movie stars. Make a survey in the barangays for this reality all over our 7100 islands and you cant fault if there are those who wish not to age and dote on movie star kids.

When I was young, in my teens, I was afraid of the idea because I was focused on a news I heard that so and so married to a foreigner was killed for insurance...scary. Nowadays, that possibility is buried with the many success stories.

It's kind of flattering, but it's starting to get to me.

Nearly all the women who check out my profile (and I am sure many men here feel the same) are Filipinas.

I have good friends that are from the Philippines and my ex was one. Though she choose to date and later marry a man she really had no business being with as a Christian, since he was a nonbeliever and backslider while they dated among other things. And he supposedly recommitted his life to Jesus just to stay with her.

I find Filipina's attraction to men like me somewhat questionable. Is it really that hard for them to find Christian men in their own country? Why are they choosing to go after Americans? For a better life from poverty? (Even though our economy is pretty bad right now?) Do they think we are more interesting? White men are more attractive? (But Australia & New Zealand is closer...)

The average American man is dumb, clueless, ignorant, easily distracted by entertainment, loves porn, has no interested in educating themselves or using critical thinking skills and many of the American Christian men don't live or act as they should as Christians. And yet Filipinas are still into us?

If they like us men just because they can get nice looking children, or to escape poverty, isn't that pretty selfish? Also they are drawn to much older men too. Men old enough to be their dads, which kind of creeps me and others out. I heard its because they think older men are more mature, which is not always true. Plenty of them are perverts and love to go after younger women to manipulate them. And some people even think women having children with much older men is selfish because you can't grow old with him and he may not live long enough to see the important events in the kids life. What do these people have in common with that age gap? Also with the older men, these Filipinas go after men that were married and are likely guilty of adultery.

I am somewhat open to having another Filipina gf when the time is right, but I am trying to be pretty cautious.

Filipinas a very family oriented. They will tell you that. But what that means to them and what it means to you may be two different things. One of the main reasons Filipinas want to marry a "forienger" is because they will be able to help their family in the RP financially. What may not seem to be a large amount of money to you is a fortune to them.

I have a few friends and a relative who are married to Filipinas. According to them, Americans can never understand what poverty is unless they visit a country like the RP. There are people there who live on one small bowl of rice per day. Kids search through garbage heaps for scrap to sell or even for "food" to eat. They said it absolutely shocked them to see poverty of that level. People in the US that are considered "poor" have tv's, cellphones, 3 meals a day, nice clothes, etc. The RP has no real "welfare programs" like the US.

Alcoholism is rampant inside the RP among men. Domestic violence is very bad. Women in the US spend tons of money to get tans, but Filipinas spend money to lighten their skin or to buy colored contact lenses. They dream of having a child with a caucasian. They also dream of being married to a man who will love them and not get drunk and beat them.

All worthy things to desire, but surely tackling the poverty in the Philippines is better overall? Not expecting them to do it themselves of course - that's like being asked to lift yourself up by your own shoelaces - but can't the wider RC church community do more for them? I'm always hearing of starving children in Africa and that message hasn't changed throughout my lifetime, but I've never heard of an appeal for starving Fillipinos.

And it always amazes me that no matter how poor a family is, there's always money to buy alcohol (and cigarettes where available). This isn't confined to 'poor' countries either - Russia has the same problem and even here in the UK, some children starve and go without clean clothes because their mum (and dad if he's still around, but most likely it's her latest boyfriend) spends their benefit money down the pub :toomuch:and on fags instead of feeding and clothing their kids.:eat: That I cannot respect.

@dkj255

It is biblical that the poor will always be around. Maybe there are lots over here but there really are lots who have improved their way of life also if we call eating at fast foods compared to eating boiled legumes an improvement in ones status.

I think a picture of an African poor is more dramatic because of the place which seems to be barren, not easy to grow food. Whereas here in the Philippines, the soil is conducive to gardening and add to that our beautiful season. We are naturally very rich in natural resources , we are very poor in leaders that have vision to enrich each and every Filipino.

Every time I watch this video of our past Pres. Marcos visiting the USA welcomed by no other than Pres. Reagan and the First Lady http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ez_L43mXeiA , I go teary eyed. That was once the Philippines and I believe, God willing, we could still rise to that level
