Posted : 11 Aug, 2013 04:41 PM Hi, I am a woman who has been on CDFF for over two years and I am pretty sure that 90%, that's right 90% of the men I have been in contact with on this site have not been who they said they were in their profiles, but in fact have been scam artists! How do I know that they are scam artists? Because I know the signs of scam artists. Their occupation is almost always a construction worker or engineer. They choose these occupations so that when they ask you to wire them money in a foreign country (like Africa) you won't think its strange even though they have told you they live in the U.S. They want you to think they are traveling around the world constructing buildings. Also scam artists say they are a single parent with at least on child just to tug at your heart strings. They all have a hard luck story that they don't tell you until they have sucked you in by communicating with you for a few days. They have stories like..their wife or parents were killed or they just lost their job or that they have been through some other horrible situation. Have you ever read a man's profile and it was written in perfect English and it made since, but when they started emailing you their messages were often written in broken English and had poor grammar? This is because the scam artist are foreign people using a translator program. I am sick and tired of running into scam artists on this site. I want to hear your experiences and your stories about scam artist on this site and then I want to know how we woman on this site can cut down on all these messages we get from these awful low down scam artist! You asked, and here's my take. There's more than one type of scam on this site. I pray for the women here, especially the younger ones. Not only should you not give out any information about yourself at anytime, but you should also be careful of the counseling you agree to from strangers that say they have a ministry. Ask God if this is a person you need to receive counsel from. Anyone can say they are a construction worker or a minister of God, that doesn't make it true. I do know a woman who was caught up in the scam you've described. Just simply don't give any information. That is the best way to avoid that one. Post Reply

I wonder what this site can do to help with the problem. I am a smart woman who will never give money to someone I just met over the internet but their may be some young women out there who don't know about these scam artist and they may get taken to the cleaners! There also may be older women out there who may end up giving away there retirement money. I tell you these scam artist must be stopped! I am to the point now that when I get a message on this site. I don't even get excited anymore. I think this site should have a moderator to complain too and should not take months to get rid of a user's profile who has been reported. I reported a scam artist after telling him off in an email and telling him that I was going to get him off the site, and 3 months later his profile is still posted on the site for women to contact him! Posted : 11 Aug, 2013 08:51 PM There are scam artists on all sites...including the paid ones...just because it's a Christian site does not remove the need for precautions. Christians are kind hearted and caring and will easily fall for someone's story. The site has recommendations to take to avoid being scammed and are pretty effective at removing scammers. Not sure why it took 3months for the one you reported...but I've seen ones removed within hours. I find if they are not willing to exchange many messages through this site before progressing to phone calls or email, they are probably a scammer. I believe the sincere Christian men...or women...will be willing to make the effort to exchange secure messages. It really doesn't take any additional effort to write a message through this site than through email. Post Reply

Posted : 19 Aug, 2013 08:51 AM I have been here for about 2 weeks now and I have also noted that potential (no one has tried scamming me yet!) scam artists: 1. Have an introductory message that is so generic - no particular thought has been put into the message 2. Contradict themselves - either on their own profile page or within the first two messages send things that are different from what is on their profile 3. Check out your profile every day they intend to send you a message (Have to remind themselves who they are communicating with) 4. Provide you with their alternative contact details in their first e-mail I pray that I don't miss out any other signs mentioned on this post, thanks for raising this issue. Post Reply
