If you're not filled with the holy spirit, and changing for God, even slowly then there's no way we'll ever get along either, because when you know God you become a different creature entirely than the one you were before you knew him. Posted : 13 Jul, 2011 06:15 PM I don't know what the "it" factor is...I've never met someone who I knew 100% was "the one" for me. I've come pretty close, I suppose, but since that relationship failed after three months of serious dating, he clearly was NOT "the one". In that case, I started thinking that he might be the one when he volunteered his opinion of how a Christian family should operate...to my surprise, his opinion and my opinion lined up perfectly. Of course, lots of good conversation led up to that, and there were really no red flags at that point. The other guy that I came close to thinking might be "the one" was a close friend. With him, it was the fact that we were so close (we still are close, actually) as friends that for a while, marriage just sort of seemed like it could be a natural progression of the friendship. He must be solidly placed on the Rock because it's not about finding someone to be happy with, it's about finding someone who will pull you nearer to God as you grow together in your relationship with each other. Then there's the short-list of things that draw my attention. These are things that I've prayed about, but may or may not be present in the man I'm to marry. Humor, intelligence without arrogance, geekiness, loves being outdoors, is willing to consider not having biological children because I honestly want to adopt and bring little souls into our home that may not have a chance at a happy childhood otherwise. The kind of question you're asking is very specific and it varies in every woman. I have friends who think I'm crazy because I think it would be difficult to be with someone who doesn't understand my nerdy, sci-fi, graphic novel, quirky side. I think the most important thing for a man to do is be honest with who he is. Be the man God created you to be. Be humble. Leave room for the Holy Spirit to work in you. Don't change to try to make some girl happy because you'll both wind up being miserable. Post Reply
