Have any of you tried the Live Chat on this site?

If so have you found it helpful in meeting others?

It reminds me of the good old days when I used to look after IRC servers at the ISP I worked for.

That's what it is, an IRC chat room. I found it a bit difficult because I am a little bit slow at processing text. If there are too many people in the group I can't keep up. The people in the chat rooms are a different group of people than in the forums, so you will be able to meet more people.

It's always worth a try.

I have tried the Live Chat on other Christian datesites.

They move fast and too many people on there. I guess that is why the Forums have few people that actually respond to posts. lol

Yes I've gone to the live chat here... can't say I really had much luck getting anyone to include me in any conversations... I ended up being the greeter for anyone who entered the room.

I enjoy the IRC format though webchat aren't always IRC. I miss being able to use the various commands that IRC servers accept. I use to work as an IRCop for a private run IRCD server that was friendly and while having their own "cliques" were still willing to welcome newcomers into the mix. Of course the owner eventually sold off the rights to the website and the IRCD and the buyers let the chatroom fall into disgraceful states where it is no longer the family friendly place it use to be...

Oh the fun memories from when I worked there... between the crazy conversations we'd have to the bouncing 'fests we'd have to learning how to /oper for the first time (and then getting in trouble for not donning my tail *blush*) Though tails weren't necessary to op up... where I work used them to signify that you were an op for those using the web client and could not see the op colors that IRC clients could. Oh the memories... *ok back to reality again* LOL

I have tried the Live Chat on this site more than once. It always ended up being a few people carrying on conversations between themselves, a couple more greeting people who jumped on, and nothing else. I tried different times and days and it was always the same. I used to go to live chat on a different christian site and it was a lot of fun. People would talk to one another, greet one another, we had running jokes, good conversations, and lots of clean fun.

I've tried the chat several times.

If I go in and someone greets me I greet them back and ask how their day has been. It's a good way to start a conversation because people will generally mention why their day has been good or bad. You can then latch onto something about it and discuss.

If I go in and I'm feeling bold I'll straight up ask what the topic is about. If I don't get an answer, I'll either leave or just jump in. I've never minded when someone jumps into a conversation I'm having. The whole thing is taking place in front of everyone present. It seems silly to think of isolating anyone in a chatroom.

If you go in and no one speaks or you are not feeling bold, wait around and greet whoever comes in next. Then you have an opportunity to talk about how no one has spoken to you or whatever.

I would say that I'm one of the regulars at chat and I'm sorry to everyone that we "ignore". Most of us are one there either daily or at least weekly to the point that we recognize each other. We have conversations together because it gets to a point when we know the people and things about thier lives. Feel free to come, just jump into the conversations, the people there are very accepting and will not bite.

Beware though, drama and arguements do flair up quickly sometimes. There have been times when one person comes in and the whole gang turns on them because the people are familiar with each other and will stand up for the people that they know.

Otherwise it's a great place if you have a prayer request or if you just want to spend some time because you're bored. Like I said come in and jump in and see what it's like. :)

God bless you all.
