Letters to One's Future Spouse - Bring All Possible Opinions
Posted : 12 May, 2011 09:53 AM

Growing up, I heard of people writing letters to their future wife/husband before beginning a private document of my own.

However, what I'd like to know from the denizens of CDFF are:

1) What do you make of someone writing letters in advance? Do you find it sweet, creepy or a third option?

2) Do *you* write anything in private while waiting for (and working towards) your match?

3) How would you react if the person you wed handed you their writings from before they knew you?

*** Denizens ?...

1) What do you make of someone writing letters in advance? Do you find it sweet, creepy or a third option?

*** It is sweet...I journal and have written much about much. Some letters reserved...some are put into bottles & sent off to the waves of the Ocean to carry them to whom God wants to receive them...most of which are messages of Encouragement, Hope & Faith in our Lord Jesus...Ifin I do these concidered by most to Silly things...than why would I be bothered by another of God's children doing similar or the same..

2) Do *you* write anything in private while waiting for (and working towards) your match?

*** Yup !...but I dont work towards my match...Just trust & know he is out there somewhere...

3) How would you react if the person you wed handed you their writings from before they knew you?

*** I'd be honored that they would share with me that which is most heartfelt & important to give to me...As has been said...the Eyes are the Window of the Soul...words written in private to God or future Mate I believe is the Window of the Heart...xo

I think it's sweet. It is one way for a person to put their thoughts, hopes, dreams, and feelings into words...and sometimes those things aren't the type of thing that you want to discuss with other people. They are between you and God, and/or perhaps are things that you would discuss with a spouse if you had one.

2) Do *you* write anything in private while waiting for (and working towards) your match?

Yes, I do. I journal a good bit, and though it is actually supposed to be a "spiritual journey" journal, I end up including a lot of other stuff in there too.

3) How would you react if the person you wed handed you their writings from before they knew you?

I'd be honored. After all, I've written a few things that I hope to someday show my spouse. It would be even more special, though, if he sat down and read them to me, or sat with me while I read them. That way he could explain the reasons for writing those words when he did. (Of course, if he hadn't written anything at all, it wouldn't be a big deal! Not everyone likes to put their thoughts down on paper!)
