While Brandon's trying to figure out what "girl next door" means, I would like to know what the heck "curvy" is supposed to mean. Not block shaped?

@Rabbit- I apologize that my statements were found to be offensive. That was not my intent; I was merely attempting to explain my viewpoint regarding body type preferences. Perhaps I injected too much drama into my words. I considered discussing my concerns with you privately, but... well... I suppose I lost my temper with you a little and didn't care to exercise much restraint for that reason.

My thoughts on the matter have not changed, but I truly am sorry for expressing my opinion in an angry manner.

Anyways, I responded to your email and we can continue the discussion privately if you like...

@ godslamb and other woman in general: I think catagorizing body types is silly. To be honest I don't find it much more helpful than just picking shape shifter. Also there isn't really much point or relevance to it if she has pictures anyway.

Again, just be healthy and happy. For every inch having a certain body type will set you back, health and happiness will take you forward a mile in the dating game.

Be happy with the body God gave you and treat it well.

Dishonsty displays a lack of confidence and makes you wonder what else you can't trust. If a girl's pictures are all from six years and 40 lbs. ago or specifically chosen to hide what she really looks like, you also have to wonder in what other ways she's misrepresented herself. It also shows a concerning lack of confidence.

I'm sure you'd feel the same way if you went to meet a 6' doctor and got a 5'9" physician's assistant. Wouldn't that set off warning bells? There's nothing wrong with being a 5'9" PA, but he should be proud of being a 5'9" PA. Why did he feel the need to tell you he was a doctor? Why did he feel the need to tell you he was 6' tall? Inadequacy issues much? If he lied there, maybe he lied about other things. For all you know, he lied about being a Christian.

"I have _____ issues" can't be an acceptable excuse to deceive people, no matter what you fill in the blank with. It's really a sign that that person needs to spend a lot more time with God and not be looking to date. A relationship can't fill that hole in your heart. Only Christ.

For once I totally agree with Tulip, yay :) but I completely disagree with Brandon!!!

I mean, yes, the concept of describing the body type is somewhat vague and useless if one puts some pictures in their profile, but mind the way the search engine works: while searching, you check the boxes stating your preferences about age, denomination and body type and so.

Imagine you like women who have some flesh so you do check the box 'voluptuous' and 'full figured' but you left out 'curvy' because you think it means a girl has a big rear but small bosom. Say I think that curvy is just the opposite - small rear but big bosom. If I put this said 'curvy' in my profile, you will never ever find me :P

So, supposing that finding the one may depend on how you understand this one silly word, well I think it is well worth discussing. (Though I am not saying that I would wish for a husband for whom the cup- or bottom size would be a deal breaker. That's a different story).

Anyways, could someone clarify how they distinguish curvy thick voluptuous and BBW? for me it's kind of all the same. It might be a cultural thing, but since I'm not a native speaker I don't really get the difference. Thanks

I always assumed that BBW was just a nicer way to say obese.

The other night I casually asked a friend who works a lot in the modelling business.... and I got a very complicated story. I asked him to keep it simple and then, after a very deep sigh, he gave me this:

In the cartoon Popeye there is the all famous creature called Olive (Oyl). I would say she can hardly be called curvy....

On the other hand there is Betty Boop......definitely curvy!

The difference between curvy and volupteous is that curvy means sharp curves, following the shape of a womans body between the chest, waist and hips.....

Voluptuous means strong shaped in both chest and hips but not necessarily a "wasp waist". ....

So someone can be slender yet curvy or petite yet curvy....

Voluptuous differs from "fat" (sorry to use that word but this is what he said) as not all "fat" women are full shaped in their chest. One could actually be rather fat yet still flat....

P.S.

No further questions PLEASE (as I do not get it either)

I agree that one shouldn't be dishonest about their appearance, but you need to keep in mind that people may have valid reasons for not publicly displaying full body photos. And you should also keep in mind that just because they're not displaying them publicly does not mean that they would not be more than willing to provide them privately to interested persons.

An example of this would be a woman who is used to being gawked at for her large chest, and who regularly gets rather crass comments about her body. If she displayed a full body photo on here, such a woman would be even more inundated with winks and messages than she already is. And it could be difficult, at least initially, to separate out those men whose attraction to her is based on her chest v. attraction based on who she really is. And I don't think this means that she's even not happy with her body necessarily. I think many women struggle with body image, regardless of how confident they may appear in their pictures or how much they're showing in their pictures.

Another example could be a woman who posed for pornography in the past, and because of that, now happens to be rather disgusted at the thought at random men being able to see her curves. There's nothing wrong with privacy, especially on a site like this where anyone in the world can view your pictures, whether they're registered for the site or not.

Or, perhaps the woman is already dating someone and simply sees no need to show her body off to men other than her boyfriend =)

@mariannazp: I think you just explained why the body type status is irrelevant much better than I could.
