NRSV1953 provided the definition of:

1 "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes."

The second definition that it provided is 2. : "organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests" - but this about the application of 1 and so part of definition 1 if it were to have integrity.

For me this is basically an accurate to describe what feminism is. So if you have a problem with it, then you need to address this definition.

The main opposition seems to be that it is a worldly term. Largely it is. But there is a Christian Feminism which is basically feminism from a Christian perspective. But if you have issue with the term feminism then you please be kind enough and provide other terminology to describe the issues that feminism discusses. Also if you think there is a need to discuss the issues that feminism discusses from a distinct perspective please provide your reasoning.

For me man and woman are different. We are created to complement each other. And therefore not the same. If the issue that ladies that identify as feminists if they want to be treated with dignity, respect and love; that doesn't seem to be controversial. What is controversial is what it looks like in practice. fundamentally there are two types of models and two types of model alone I would argue. One based in the world the other is based in God.

The fruit of the movement known as feminism has not served ladies I would argue. But to say that these are primarily seeded with feminism I would disagree.

Kiwi,

We can all play word games or we can deal with realities.

How about this one? "Liberal"

Liberal - Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.

Great, nobody wants to be a " bigot" right? Almost makes you want to become a liberal doesn't it? Now, go and look at the reality of the liberal position and it's outworking in our culture.

It opposes and systematically tears down everything that a true believer stands for.

Bigot translation: anyone who opposes the liberal agenda. More specifically those that maintain the truth of the word of God.

Here's a good one - "A woman's right to healthcare"

Translation - a woman should be able to abort her baby anytime she chooses for whatever reasons she wants without any consent from the father.

Wake up and smell the humanist coffee brother. Don't argue just to argue when you know better.

Maybe I am missing something. Feminism IS a worldly term all that stems from feminist is worldly. The bible defines who we are as women and as men. So if as a Christian woman you claim feminism you are claiming what unsaved women say is ok.

The power of life and death is in the tongue we should speak that we are women of God and I want to reiterate if you believe the Feminist agenda you DO NOT trust God or the bible. Feminism is in opposition to Christianity.

I understand what she is trying to say. The women of Jesus day had little or no rights and Jesus did not treat them as the culture treated them.

She advocates the equality of men and women.

I personally belive women of today in some sence have more rights then us men.

They get preference over men when it come to children of seperated and divorced families.

They get greater say over the life of unborn babies.

I wounder what rights do men have that women do not these days?

I wonder what a feminist's reaction would be to 1 Tim 2:12?

I've no problem with women being given the ability to work, to vote, to choose whether to marry or have children, just as we have some of those choices, but to make them artificially "equal" to satisfy an ideology or perceived slight against their gender is foolishness. Men and women are not the same, either physically, mentally or emotionally, and what works for one gender will not generally work for the other.

Women have weakness in several areas which men don't, and the reverse is true. The wise will recognise those areas where they are inherently weaker and will defer to the stronger, the fools will not yield (or not take a stand when they should) in the name of "equality".
