First: Ladies, I want to thank you for sharing your hearts with us men. I know not all of you will, and it's hard to divuldge areas of your life that may be painful, or sensitive :)

A few years a go I was a man who weighed about 260lbs and for my height (5'11', 6'0 if I stand up straight :) it is considered obese.

I made no bones about why I was big, it was simple I ate alot more than I moved. Also I knew I was fat, and didnt have problem saying so.

My question is; why do women who are overweightt (they have more flesh on them than there frame can hold) not identify themselves as such. It SOUNDS like they honey coat it by using terms like voluptious, curvey, thick, all of which in my mind are often diferent than how I view the definition of those terms :)

I think it is no different than men who claim to have an "athletic build", when they are clearly 50-60 lbs overweight. I believe it stands to reason that men and women alike often word things with wishful thinking. Also, I have always considered myself an "average" build and I say I could stand to lose 10 lbs, but friends of mine that have more weight on them say I'm too skinny. Reality is not always reality, but rather, ones perception of such.

Men and women alike in general, i think, find the word "fat" to be rude and hurtful because society has made it rude and hurtful. It is more acceptable for a man to be overweight than for a woman. Either way though, some people simply prefer a larger mate, and some a slimmer one. I have dated a 175lb man; I have dated a 305lb man. Some of us know that true beauty is within.

Yes, looks are something. But they are not everything.

MsMarvel, I think that you completely misunderstand how men really think and that you are imposing your viewpoint on us. We dont see beauty like women do, and that is not wrong, just different. You are making much more out of what we say than what we are actually saying.

Do you think its more acceptable in scociety for men to be bigger, or do you think men dont care as much as women? :)

I think men care less about their own looks than women do, not as a rule, but in general. I think media over the years is greatly responsible for this. It is much more common in media to see a man with a gut and 5 o'clock with his shirt tail hanging out matched with a conventionally attractive, slim-figured, well-manicured lady than it is to see a heavy woman with chipped-off nail polish and her hair in a sloppy ponytail paired with a handsome, trim and fit man.

However, I think men care more about the looks of their mate than women do of theirs... especially when it comes to weight. Again, not as a rule, but in general. I live in WV, on of the most obese places in America. It is not uncommon to see a pretty, slim lady walking hand-in-hand with an overweight man. However, it IS uncommon to see a handsome, slim man with an overweight woman. Most commonly, if the oman is overweight, her man is too.

lol I know what you mean about WV I have kin in Parkersburgh.

Idk I feel loved if my mate keeps her looks up if for no other reason than to please me.

Keepiing to the subject, when I was obbese I used to poke fun oat myself...I remember when I worked at this factory and we were off on a lunch break we would frequent this diner across the way. As I was getting out of my car one of my friends yelled out look its the fat and the furios  I guess that is what I was trying to say...I wouldn't dare even hint to womans weight positive or other wise. :D
