Okay,

Here is my problem. I think that it is very important to know who the girl is before considering a dating relationship. This seems to be a problem for a lot of women. I treat them the way the bible says as sisters. The bible says to treat younger women as sisters. So therefore if it is not appropriate for a brother and sister then it is not appropriate for me to do with this girl I am getting to know. So why is it that most women I have met seem to think that it is not important to have boundaries physically and that friends first should be a must?

I would rather not date, than to date someone who is focused on "romantic" ideas.

I don't think I buy into your assertion that romance = physical. I don't get that at all from Christians, and a lot of nonchristians I know tend to completely disassociate feelings and the physical with an attitude of "Just because we had sex doesn't mean we're going to date or even exchange last names"

Mike

Would you?:

* sit on a porch on a summer evening sipping lemonade with a woman?

* would you cook her a candle lit meal?

* would you sit up with her all night talking till the sun came up?

* would you send her flowers?

* would you walk around a lake holding hands?

* would you tell her how wonderful she looks?

* would you express your feelings toward her?

I think all those things could be considered romantic.

Now if you are not willing to do those things before marriage, do you believe you would change and do those on a regular basis after marriage?

that's part of the wooing process, we need that. It's not just romantic but it makes us feel beautiful, safe and appreciated.

for a woman to fall in love, we need those things.

People like to say that love is a choice, and to an extent it is, but be careful not to err on the side of thinking that love/marriage are some sort of business agreement.

Holding hands is crossing the line? I'm sorry, but I fail to understand that one. It's too bad we lost him though. Hopefully he'll come back.
