I woke up with gum in my hair this morning because I fell asleep (yet again) with gum in my hair. This happens to me about once every six months and it's my own fault, obviously. There was indeed a reason why my mother threatened to call me every night when I went to college: to ask, "Did you spit your gum out?" Since my hair is curly and in sort of choppy layers, I just cut the gum out this morning. I didn't even feel like trying to actually save my hair.

Another dumb moment of mine (among many, to be sure) involves a *little* kitchen accident. However, it's slightly R-rated, so I can't share it here openly. Haha.

WHAT'S SOMETHING DUMB THAT YOU'VE DONE? Guys, jump in too!!! And lots of people better jump in too, because I need to know I'm not the only one who can't handle something as basic as the spitting out of gum before going to bed.

Those of you with cooking stories reminded me of a good one. And Cobbler, you reminded me of a good car one too.

Okay cooking one first.

I was really hungry one time and wanted soup but didn't have any clean pans and didn't want to take the time to wash one because I was too hungry to wait that long. So I decided to heat the soup in the can directly on the stove. Now, I know from things like Mythbusters that you shouldn't do that because the can can (hehe, cancan) explode. So I opened the lid to allow it to vent and therefore not explode. Doing good so far, right? Well, I know the can will be hot, so I make sure to have a potholder. Still doing just fine. Then when I go to check with a spoon to see if the soup is warm yet, I use my potholder to hold the can so I can get a good stir and then a little spoonful. While I'm doing this, all the while holding the can, I start to smell smoke and get a little panicky. I glance around, still holding the can, and it's smelling hotter but I don't see anything. Suddenly I realized that the entire time I was holding the can, the potholder was laying directly on my electric coil burner  I still use that potholder but I can only use it with the other hand because it burned so far through on the one side that it no longer offers any heat protection.

Now the car one. I have only locked my keys in the car a couple of times, but one time just took the cake for an embarrassing moment. Long story short, I witnessed a motor vehicle accident. A motorcyclist ran a stop sign while a van with no stop sign was turning left, the motorcyclist hit the breaks and turned to sharp, fell and spun like a top into the van. Anyway, I pulled to the side, but still smack in the middle of the right-turn lane, jumped out to see if everyone was okay (I honestly thought the motorcyclist would at the very least have a broken neck but he actually got up and rode away after the exchange of insurance info with the van driver) and give my contact information as an insurance witness if needed. Once all is said and done, I go back to get in my car, and lo and behold I had locked my key in it! So I had to go back to the lady who had just been in a car accident and ask her if I could use her cell phone to call my mom! She gave me a very funny look too. My mom couldn't come right away, so I had to wait a good 20+ minutes with lots of people getting irritated that they had to drive around my car, and a couple people, including one of my COUSINS, stopped to offer to help me at least move my car. Of course I had to decline their assistance because I had put on the e-brake LOL. So yeah, I sat on my trunk like an idiot waving cars around me for a while until my mom got their with the spare key.

Oh, wow tulip. Good question. Let me see if I can remember them all.

3 chevy citations

2 80's ford escorts

79 Monza

2 77 RX3 ( one I locked both keys in)

81 mercury cougar

90 something Mercury Sable

90 something ford tarus

89 (I think) Cutlas supreme

91 eagle summit

92 Honda Civic (current car)

Wow! I've had so many it is hard to keep track. I never paid more than $1000 for any of them, and some, like the Tarus I only had for a month.

Laughing all over again. I really appreciate everyone sharing with me here =)

Cobbler, that IS a lot of cars. I've only had 2. My dad bought me my 1987 Dodge Charger when I was 15, back in 1994. Then, in 2001 I bought my 2002 Honda Civic (coupe). We donated the Charger to this auction that this local crisis pregnancy clinic was having. I wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons, but my Dad said that it needed to go because you don't keep big things like cars for sentimental reasons. He's right, but I cried a little anyway.

Well, I only kept most of them for about a year or so. Sometimes I had two to three cars at a time. They were all junker cars, so it was easy to go through them.

Oh! And I fogort one 90 or 91 Volkswagen Fox

oh...those are to funny!

whenever I go somewhere I usually have to make an effort to remember where I park, I'm not the person that automatically knows where the car is. I even sometimes have to push the panic button on my alarm so that I can find it. So, needless to say I usually have to really pay attention to where I am going at the mall when I'm alone...like how to get back to the entrance and which exit is my car near, stuff like that. I get lost easily and funny I never see other women looking lost trying to find their way back to where they parked.

When I'm with one of my daughters I dont pay attention cuz they always do. I just usually walk and they'll look for me and i'm off in another direction and they crack up cuz they say I look like I'm on a mission and that it looks like I know where I'm going. They're like "mommy!" then I turn around and go the right way. It happens ALL the time. If I'm leading, we're usually going the wrong way. but now I just say, oh I wanted to look at that or I wanted to walk this way. LOL they know I'm full of it though.

You are not alone riveroflife, haha. I have had to have friends go into the parking lot with me and hunt down my car. Another friend of mine, we always lose whichever car we drove when we go somewhere, so now we've started texting the exact spot to each other so that we both have it on our phone just in case  But sounds like your daughters have a handle on it :)

Wow I sometimes feel I an the queen of dumb moments...

Lets see...well there was one time I was meeting some butter in a pan peeping to saute done onions and peppers...i was caring for my grandma at the time and she called me to her room to help her with something...while helping her I totally forgot about the pan until the smoke detector in the kitchen went off...i quickly removed the pan from the burner but without thinking set it down on the cutting board. Needless to say there is now a perfectly round sear mark on the board from where I set the pan.

As for cars...I never lock my keys in my truck since I use the fob to lock and arm my trucks security system...so if my keys aren't on me my truck isn't locked...well...I one day at Walmart learned that there are a lot of charcoal grey Chevy's in town than just mine ....so I left my keys in my truck and was walking back to get them...i walked up to my truck...opened the door...but something was off...that want my phone laying on the seat...and my dreamcatcher want hanging from the mirror...so I leaned out and noticed a Z-71sticker on the end...but my truck is only 4x4...so Confused and embarrassed I Close the door walk tp the end of the truck to see my five magnet on the truck two spaces down...OOPS! Yeah.

Another dumb moment back when I was a teen...i was walking in the mall when I noticed a cute guy walking the opposite direction...as he passed I turned mt head to watch him walk by...not realizing I was heading straight towards a large display sign...needless to say...both I and the sign hit the floor
