Do you have any pets? If so, do you view them as part of your family members?

I have to say...

When I had my sweet little bird, I her from 5 weeks old to 8 years old, I viewed

her as part of my family.

When she became ill with Cancer I did have the Vet try to save her. They first removed her preen

gland, but Cancer had spread. They removed her tail and she lived just shy of a year afterward. The

cost was very close to what it would be for a human to go thru the same process.

I miss her soooooo much! And my life was and is blessed because she was part of it.

Thank you God!

Dogs. Miss them so much. The last one we had was kidnapped sniff.

Fishes. Cute goldfishes, so fat that they could barely swim. Now they were dead and replaced by an Arowana fish. Not that cute.

hmmm so which dogs aren't diggers? think an electric fence would curb it? I've heard stories of dogs learning how to ground the electric fence.

I grew up with a Pekingese - great family dog for girls. Not so great for my boys wanting something rowdy. Trying to find a good mix.

I'm not sure which dogs aren't diggers. And believe me...we tried an electric fence -- one that was supposed to be livestock strength, and it wasn't intermittent (which also meant that we killed a lot of squirrels, possums, skunks, and raccoons on that fence, and finally got a different one because we were afraid our cats would get killed too). The dogs just went right over/under it like it didn't hurt them at all. Of course, we did end up with particularly stupid dogs.

I will say that they got better about digging as they got older and more decrepit. However, the past few weeks they've been digging again! It's like they are reverting back to their puppy-hood in their old age.

I have two doxies, Sadie and Sassy and of course, they are part of my family. Being single and living by myself, they are the ones who are happy to see me when I come home, when I cry they comfort me, and when I am sick they never leave my side. Unlike my human family, they are a part of my life everyday.

We had a dog growing up that we just recently had to put down. I tried to treat him like family when I was younger, but eventually I realized that having a dog is like having a kid who never learns to talk, never leaves for college, and gets upset when you hug someone.

I have Guardian at 6 weeks, he was born Feb 22, 2008. Before I got him, I think I was developing nervous breakdown and with his company I believe I was cured. If I spoiled him so bad, it is because I think he is cheaper therapy... haha. He is always crazy excited when I came home from work, have to lift him up, sometimes I need to hand feed him when he will not eat his food mostly fried chicken and rice. Wherever I am in the house, he is there with me, he live up to his name and he is alpha male. I think I am treating him like a youngest son that he really grew up spoiled than my two daughters. Every time I bath him, he is used to being wrapped in his towel, sit on my lap and be embraced for about 30minutes. He is potty trained that he live inside the house, sleep beside me or with my girls, he has his choices which half of the pillow he will claim at which time of the night. There are times he barks and watch the door while we sleep in peace.

Dogs dig mainly because they are bored and have all this energy to expend (that and they may also be a bit neurotic).

If you can exercise them regularly and keep them entertained when you are not around will help. The simplest toy is an empty gallon container of milk cleaned out with some rocks inside that will rattle. They will bite and chew on it and eventually break it open. It gives them something to do while you are away.

Some dogs just want to get out and visit girlfriends in the "hood". They will be tough to break of that habit. Neutering may help.

Your Vet should be able to give you more (and probably better) advice.

Two Border Collies, Chet and Chelsea. Six horses, Winnin Peake, Darling Dual Socks, ColonelPicnicBanjo, Speedynic Banjo, Nathanael Peak, and the Starlight colt. Are they family? I feed twice a day give them a place to sleep and don't plan on eating them....so I guess yes.

I don't name the cats, they are mousers and usually don't last that long cause the coyotes eat them....I can't catch them even if I wanted to eat them....so no.
