When you are not passionate anymore toward something (job, church activities, etc) or someone maybe, what would you do?

In this case, we are talking about you who are a Christian reading and listening to His Words, praying, etc whatever we do as a Christian. So the problem is not that we are not spending more time with Him, but we just lose the passion we once had. Someway somehow you know that your time doing that thing or be with the person is not yet finished.

Guys, feel free to jump in :)

Well, I think that passion and longing are very closely linked in that there is an element of longing in passion. I think that we all have longings and that we automatically seek to fulfill those. So, my questions to you would be: What do you long for? How are you seeking to fulfill those longings? The world can very slyly pull us away from God by offering imitations of things that we should rather go to God for. When our longings are "satisfied" outside of God, then our longing and passion for Him diminish.

One of my favourite passages in the Bible is Psalm 63:1-8 (pasted below). I love how David says that he thirsts for God in a "dry and weary land where there is no water." He's in a desert and no doubt very thirsty physically; yet, his longing is for God. He isn't searching for his longing to be met out in the world. He sees God as His provider and longs for Him because of His trust in God's provision and character.

That said, I think that we ALL go through dry patches in our faith. Prayer and consistent Bible reading are imperative to getting back on track. I think that writing in a journal can be really helpful too. When we write just for ourselves and let our thoughts spill out, we can sometimes see some patterns there that we wouldn't otherwise. Know that I'm praying for you and that I'm here if you need to talk.

--------------------- Psalm 63:1-8 ---------------------

God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;

My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,

In a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary,

To see Your power and Your glory.

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,

My lips will praise You.

So I will bless You as long as I live;

I will lift up my hands in Your name.

My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,

And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.

When I remember You on my bed,

I meditate on You in the night watches,

For You have been my help,

And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.

My soul clings to You;

Your right hand upholds me.

Dear all, thank you for the responses, prayer and encouragement. I really appreciate it =)

No, I dun feel dry toward God. I feel dry toward the things I do like my job and the service I do at the church. In a nutshell, like what BC mentioned about her service at the church and Alycorn mentioned about her job.

I've read David and Joseph story and noticed some tips on how they could survive. But Psalms would be great as well. I have done all things I knew I could to get the passion back (I prayed for the joy when I do the job).

Someway somehow, tho the things have not changed yet, but I'm really feeling better now. Must be the effect of you guys' prayers =) thank you all!

I am still open for more advices and suggestions, so if u have anything in mind about the case, I'm open for it =)

When I lose passion for something, the first thing I do is try to find a new passion in it some kind of way. I pray, try to do things a bit differently, and try to consider WHY I might have lost that passion. But if things stay blah for several months, I begin to consider and pray about other areas God might want me to direct my interest.

If I lose passion in something God-related, very often it's either burn out (meaning I was doing more than God wanted or not relying on Him in what I was doing), God calling me to a new place in Him, or a gut feeling that something's wrong with what is happening, either directly or indirectly, in that area. So I proceed cautiously. There are times, though, when I'm not as excited about Bible study or prayer or some other aspect of personal devotion. In those times, I remember that I'm human and there will be times I'm more or less zealous, but it's not the zeal but the dedication and commitment that count. I don't hold myself to a rigorous schedule. If I don't get excited about reading the Bible, I study different passages, participate in an online study, or read an expository book about the Bible. If prayer doesn't excite me, I try singing praises, reading Psalms out loud in prayer, or just quietly meditating on a few verses for a few minutes or throughout the day.
