Admin	what to ask to figure out if someone is a Christian in the first couple conversations... Posted : 31 Oct, 2010 06:06 PM OK, so I guess it's easy to see if someone is a Christian on sites like these, or even secular sites if someone puts it in their profile. But how about when you meet someone not at church. Is there anything you normally say or ask that would prompt someone to say something about if they go to church or are a Christian or something? Posted : 2 Nov, 2010 06:52 PM I think that asking bluntly is a first step, especially if you don't know the person at all. On a site like this, everyone professes to be a Christian, or at least is really honest about the fact that they are not (and usually provide plenty of reasons why they aren't, and why they want to date Christians in spite of the differences). But in "real life" you might meet a great person at work and not have a clue until you just plain ask. If you know someone claims to be a Christian, then I agree with Tulip. I always ask for a guy's testimony. That usually tells me a LOT. If he avoids the question or gives really vague answers, that could be a sign of trouble. Someone who is secure in his faith will jump at the opportunity to share his testimony, or will at least be able to share it satisfactorily. His testimony also gives me a glimpse into what he believes theologically. These questions ("Are you a Christian?" and "Will you share your testimony with me?") have seemed to be pretty safe to ask within the first couple conversations, especially online. I've asked them multiple times, and the few guys who were offended were guys that I wouldn't have wanted to date anyway. Post Reply

Reminds me of early talks with my current boyfriend when we were talking about videogames, and I casually asked if he ever played Grand Theft Auto, and he said he didn't and that he thought they were disgusting. *swoon* Post Reply
