So this is probably the first of a bunch of dumb questions I still have about girls, but till now haven't asked because I'm embarrassed at how childish and whiney they sound. They're honest questions and something I really wonder, I'm not cynical or volitile or trying to talk down to or hurt any feelings or anything so here goes:

What is it exactly that makes women think they're so great? The way the roles are seem pretty lopsided, if you ask me and for all the risks we take and effort we put into it, it doesn't seem like we get much back in return. Men are the ones that choose to try and women are the ones that just choose and it seems like all give and in return we get nothing except somebody that looks nice, but will let you down as soon as you start trusting and enjoying her and basically I've moved beyond asking 'When does this get fun, exactly?' to 'Does this get ever get fun?'

Basically (and again I mean absolutely no offense whatsoever) "Why should I even bother?"; "What's so great about women anyway if you can never enjoy or rely on them?"; "Why do you expect us to do things you're not willing to do yourself?"; And I suppose that's enough for now, but more like that will come up later, again the point of this is strictly objective, and basically what it comes down to is this:

I don't mean to offend. I want to genuinely respect and appreciate women, but right now, I'm just not seeing it. Help me out please.

I know exactly what Tulip is talking about. Unfortunately, I have to back him up on the fact that these young ladies abound. It appears to me to be a combination between entitlement and self-righteousness. It is not a pretty picture.

However, as Lamb said, not all girls are like that. My daughter knows that I would kick her backside until it came out her zipper if she acted like that. (not really) Most parents these days don't take the time to teach character to their kids. (including self-control and anger management)

OK. I'm in a bad mood and it's showing. I better get off of the forums.

Yeah, it's likely an age thing. I've met several girls who have labeled their flaws as "quirks" that they expect their future husband to think are cute, but if any of these "quirks" were part of the guy's character, that guy would be scratched off the dating list because they deserve only the best. College girls and young professionals seem to be the worst offenders. I haven't seen anything like this in women past their early 30s though. Maybe they grow up. Maybe they just lower their standards as they watch their biological clock tick faster.

@Gods Lamb there all over the place, its very sad cause I thought there would be more...well people who were in love with God, and were like Him, but Rose hit the nail on the head. The love of many have waxed cold :(

@River Barbie and Ken lol...they say beauty is fleeting, but what they dont tell you is that Ken will probably look pretty much the same in his 50s but not so for Barbie :nahnah:

"and is submissive in every way, she cannot have her own thoughts or opinions" Where did that come from? :)

rabbitt-

it's just the attitude that comes across sometimes.

haha and I never thought ken was handsome :)

I actually think the men who are looking for someone with all this beauty arent the type of man I would want in my life. They are to concerned with outer appearance and not every day do i wear make up and I would be scared to gain 5 pounds. lol...inner beauty is what counts, on both men and women.

I couldn't agree more! This is partly why it's such a turn-off for me when I guy compliments me on outer beauty before complimenting me on anything else or even commenting on my profile. I don't want my face, body, hair, etc. to be the first thing people notice about me or what keeps them interested. I want someone who loves me for me, and who still loves me even when my outer appearance changes.

@Tulip- So, I'm 31 and I must say that my biological clock is ticking. But, I don't think I lowered any standards because of it. What I did do was take a really hard look at my criteria and spend some time studying what a Christ-centered relationship should look like and what my standards should be in light of that. And I've spent a lot of time in prayer just asking God to work on my heart. Through all of that, my standards have changed. They're not lower, but they're deeper... There's no stuff on the list anymore like: He must like wearing cowboy hats. Yes, that was on "the list" once... haha...

Oh, "the list." Haha. Sounds like you've matured then. One of my favorites I ever heard was that a guy must be 6'3. 6'1 wasn't tall enough, which is why she knew she couldn't marry her last boyfriend.

If you had just moved to Texas, I'm sure you could have found a guy who liked wearing cowboy hats a lot easier.

I was commenting on a plausable reason why men who dont look like Ken go for women who look like Barbie. Beauty fades, and does so very rappidly

@Pixy lol Cowboy hats?
