Ecclesiastes 7:27-28

This is a curious passage. I have yet to find any convincing definitive interpretation, but it touches me. I feel as though I know what he's trying to say, but that he and I both are afraid of pinning it down... it's a deep hopelessness for me.

I want to know if anyone, either gender (but obviously I'm more interested in hearing from women on this), has an interpretation of these two verses.

Phalom88, I'm honored and humbled to have "almost uncovered your heart"(smile)! Now obviously who can only completely peel back all that layers your heart is The Lord!

And regarding you honestly not seeing the bible verse you've chosen for discussion as possibly Solomon's despair and weakness of his life choices, leading to idolatry and separation from The Lord......well that's why I truly respect the diversity of interpretation(smile)! Rightly dividing or interpreting God's Word of truth will always be a task that men and women, young and old will tarry with until Christ's return!

I truly thank God for diversity.....it's one of the true spices of life!. Be blessed.

DontHitThatMark:

I am touched by your words.

I'm not at all convinced that Lemuel is Solomon, and I haven't much to say in response to your last paragraph (I don't really look at all the men on this site), but what you say here about Solomon is the most relevant response to my original idea yet.

"an assertive, strong and wise seeker of truth in the opposite gender"? I agree wholeheartedly. This hits close to the core of my desire, and it's special to me that you agree.

"I think that he did find such a woman in the Queen of Sheba. From the biblical account, it sounds like she was very impressed with him, and he with her. She was assertive, a seeker of wisdom, a powerful and resourceful monarch. One who was so awed by his wisdom that she must have been able to comprehend that magnitude of it, which means she must have been quite wise herself." This is not only a wise conclusion on your part (if I may say so - brilliant use of logic), but a very hopeful thought to me. If only he had added the element of loyalty to this connection, he may have come out with a love for the ages. Perhaps he did indeed miss his chance at deep human love, and perhaps I shall not. Thank you so much for your thoughts here.

Hisjoymypeace:

I agree - we each can only do our best to understand the Bible, and anyone who tells me that it doesn't require interpretation shows me immediately that they haven't explored truth very deeply at all.

As for my heart, I can show it much more fully to anyone who simply asks, but not everyone can fully understand even what I have to show, and certainly I agree that only God knows me perfectly in every moment.

Thanks for your time.
