I humbly need your help in understanding certain verses in the bible. The question is trigured by my conversation with Letthismind2 about matters to be considered when deciding to get married,
And ensuring that the marriege is not only based on sexual activities, but rather in all areas of life.
The first passage to look at is:
1 Corinth 7:13-14
13, "And a woman who has a husband that is unbelieving, if willing to live with her, let her not divorce him 14, For the unbelieving husbend is santified through the believing wife."
Onother one is:
1 Corinth 10:18-21
18,"....Are not those who eat of the sacrifice partakers of the altar? 19, What am I saying then? That an idol is anything? Or what is offered to idols is anything? 20, Rather that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demonds and not to God. And I do not want you to have fellowship with demonds 21, You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demonds; you cannot partake of the Lords table and of the demonds."
Please share how possible is it for a wife to keep an unsaved husband without being won over to evil through submission,
Fore these two different kingdoms have one thing is common, that is soul winning.
How then will the wife submit to the husbend's former instructions (since she's now saved) that involve evil altars, without compromising her relationship with God.
There surely is a way for the wife to go about masteing this, just don't know how will she go about it.
I think it is also important to keep in mind that salvation is eternal...as you point out both Satan and Jesus are fighting for the souls of men and women. Unfortunately, because of sin we all belong to Satan...
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Satan fights to keep us in his fold...Jesus is seeking to save us from our sins, and the ultimate punishment. Once we are saved by grace through our faith, We are securely in His hands
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Also, keep in mind that God is watching out for us...
1 Corinthians 10:13There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Job 1:8And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
10 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
11 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand.
As a Christian, we are sometimes faced with the challenge of doing right in God's eyes instead of doing right in the eyes of a family member, coworker, friends or someone else. By choosing right, we may be accused of not loving someone, or being disobedient, or many other 'bad/mean' things. In some cases families disown those who have become Christians...I believe this is what Jesus was referring to when he said:
Luke 14:26If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Jesus knew when we choose to do right that some will hate us...because we make them feel guilty for their sins.
John 15:18If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own:but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
We are responsible for making the right choices...
James 4:17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Acts 5:29Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Think of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego...they risked death to obey God over man...God does not always deliver as He did them from persecution, but we always end up ahead in God's eyes when we choose right.
You are in my prayers. I know you have been through many trials...and you have a great outlook on life. I know many who have gone through far less and wear their bitterness on their shoulder.
God is using you and will give you the strength to make the right decisions. You are His daughter...a princess in His kingdom!
Don't you worry yourself about mult replies dear, I don't mind them at all, fore the massage intended would have been compromised without the length of your replies.
You're a very sweet & kind person aren't you lady...? This i've observed a while ago every time reading your replies to asked questions. I appreciate fellows of your kind & very sensitive to their energy. Doesn't take much for me to note them & get attracted. It was out of respect that i've selected you ladies to help me out in this subject. I expected such fruitfulness & maturity when selecting you.
And yes dear I really need prayers & all the help I can get as starting all over a new lonely life,
Yep, it gets lonely at times since I come from a digger family & now I rush home to an empty house after working hours. I miss being awaited by someone, but it ok I need the peace of mind. I'm very glad to know that I don't have to go through this alone with friends like you, just as you've qoated "My struggles are common with those of other believers, and I won't be tempted beyond what I can bear" suppose God entrusted me with such to go through.
I'm being helped by the Holy Spirit not to feel sorry for my self for life carry's on and so have I,
Being sustained & motivated by my destiny calling for me. That is just ONE thing I caanot afford to miss, since there's nothing & no one to look forth/count on for help & support from my past, I only have the future to make it different from my past. My continuous prayer daily is that I forgive genuinely as I close this long chapter of my life to new beginnings.
Yes my darling sister this chapter has came to an end. The only thing that brings a little anger when looking back, are my waisted efforts through expenses met invain when all was meant well for my family's sake, but in the end was thown out with nothing to take with but expenses that are stumbling blocks on my progress right now untill they're paid up,
And will surely be soon through God's grace.
I appreciate your attitude lady, people like you are worth my company.
Thank you for understanding my question & every word shared from the bible in answering me. Must have taken too much of your time having to read my conversations with LTM. Our conversations are very long, we both talk too much & enjoy each others' company. He's been very helpful & patient with me.
Being unequally yoked with unbelievers is the main subject here through different altars. Reading through Lukia's reply with LTM over & over gave me an answer, yours is an additional top up.
Thank you so much guys for partaking in my question.
Still waiting patiently for Jude to share what she has to say.
SisygirlI gota be honestTeach has covered every aspect of the questions you asked and then some...God truly has moved through her to convey a clear and personal message...I am at a loss for wordsI find all the replies absolutely Amazing!!!:applause:...xo
One area I didn't completely address is the 'soul winning' aspect. I started to but then took a different path.
Since we all start out as sinners, Satan doesn't have to 'win' us. Once we are saved, Jesus has won us...for keeps. What Satan then fights for...since he lost our soul...is our testimony.
Satan does not want us to be able to witness to and influence others to become Christians. His efforts now focus on keeping us from growing and tearing us down through temptations. He's very effective at it. Sometimes it's through our old 'habits' -- while we are instantly saved, God may not immediately change our behaviors...we have to learn that what we're doing is wrong in His eyes. Satan will work to keep us from learning those truths, often using other Christians who struggle with the same issues. Once we conquer those areas, rest assured Satan is waiting with something else.
Satan also likes to plant seeds of doubt in our minds...causing us to question God's Word. Am I really saved? Did God really forgive me of that sin? Can God use me even though I did...(fill in the blank)?
Satan is also the Great Accuser...he loves to hold our past sins over our heads.
These are times to claim God's promises...salvation is eternal, He forgives our sins...and remembers them no more.
Jesus told Satan to get behind Him...and Jesus quoted Scripture to Satan after Jesus fasted in the wilderness. We have to do the same thing when faced with temptations or the seeds of doubt.
I enjoy researching Bible verses to answer questions. It challenges me to recall the verses and topics I have learned over the years and to look at them in a new light. I also need many of the reminders that the verses and discussions provide as I still struggle through the trials sent my way at times.
When I feel overwhelmed, I let God know I am...and thank Him that He trusts me that much to allow the trials to come my way.
James 1:2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
2 Peter 1:3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins
Yes dear you're absolutely right, Teach covered all aspects of my questions.
At times we don't know the wisdom God has layed on us untill such times of bible discussions,
And other discussions about general daily challenges that we often go through.
Still glad that you were part of this dear.
Teach
"I enjoy researching bible verses to answer asked questions, it challenges me"
I agree with you.
Time spent in God's word is never invain, instead it empowers you through new revelations received as reading through.
And yes Satan doesn't want us to testify & influence other peoples' lives cause we stand to win them over to Jesus. We should therefore strive to testify & lift up God's name higher above our circumstances.
