Would you date this person?

Hi Ladies,

Suppose you came across a very nice man who was intelligent, knew the scriptures very well and had a passion for Christ, BUT you discover during his testimony that at one time he was responsible for killing hundreds if not thousands of people. He had repented and now being born again is a new creation.

Would you still date this person? Does his history make any more difference since he is no longer the same?

Blessings!

Walter

Hey T,

Well, being from a family that has many soldiers I don't believe that they are murders! I believe that even in the bible God treated war as different, it does not say in the bible that soldiers were to be punished for murder but that murder was wrong! Murder is the taking of innocent lives, war involves the loss of life in combat!

Take for instance David it was not his soldier actions that got him in trouble but his murder of Bathsheba's husband!

I also believe that even though God forgives our sin sometimes we have to pay the price for it...whatever a man sows that will he reap! Sometimes the harvest is not pleasent!

Do you believe that innocent lives aren't taken in combat?

What if a soldier kills an innocent bystander? Does he reap that?

Becca,

I feel the need to reiterate. In my earlier posts, in no way was I intending to sound angry or mad or anything with a negative context. I was trying to understand your opinion better. Just having a discussion.

However, I would like to step away from this discussion. This topic is too personal to me.

If it's the case, I can agree to disagree.

Regards,

T

"why....Is that you? By the way I am a man seeking woman."

Hello JDobbins! It's nice to meet you!

However, I don't really understand exactly what you're asking. So, I'll give you some responces that might answer your question.

I'm not a murderer or a soldier, but I was a private contractor in Iraq and experienced some things, first hand, that I hope we, in the US, never have to see.

I stepped away from mine and Becca's conversation because of a possible difference of opinion. I choose not to get involved in that conversation in a public forum.

As for the "man seeking woman" part, we all post on all the forums; it's not taboo for a man to post in the Ask a Girl forum.

If there is need for further clarification, just let me know. I'll be happy to elaborate. But, if it's in reference to soldiers suffering for their deeds during war, please contact me privately.

I look forward to finding out. :)

Only if he was truly a man of God and turned himself in. There is a difference between killing and murdering. Murdering is illegal and, according to the Bible, we are to obey the laws of the land. That means, if we are Christian, murder has no timeline for when someone can no longer be prosecuted and we should turn ourselves in. One Christian man did that and that is the kind of man I would like. Remember that the justice system must also prove he did it, so his confession won't assure him punishment, but it will show where his heart is.

As for soldiers, they are commanded to do their job by the government, the law of the land. It is not murder to kill the enemy and, if someone were to get caught in the crossfire, that does not mean the soldier is guilty of murder, if the government does not see it this way. However, I can't say with surety that God would feel the same way.

Sounds like an unrepenting Obama and his pro abortion stand. It is har to say, i would figure a gal may be friends with him if he has truly repented.
