Posted : 7 Mar, 2009 10:29 AM I run across women who are looking for guys who are deeper than a puddle but when they encounter someone who is "nice" they tend to shy away.... why is that? So that's my question what's more important what a guy looks like or who he truly is on the inside? Post Reply

I knew of my ex for about 4 years before we ever spoke to each other. He was the assistant chief of a fire department and I was an EMT at the ambulance service so we encountered each other often. We both attended an extrication class one day, and after I'd been out there cutting up cars with big "man" tools all day, hot and sweaty, stinky and dissheveled, he asked me out! I was shocked! I thought, Well, anyone that would think I was attractive looking like this isn't just after one thing! So we went out. I didn't think he was very attractive, but we sat and talked for hours. I loved it! Over time, he became my best friend. During that process, he became the most handsome man in the world to me. Later on, he told me that he'd been watching me work on scenes we shared, and how I dealt with people was what had initially attracted him to me. He's a motivational speaker & a very interesting person. He has to surround himself with people he trusts in his business and personal life. It made me think about this: if you were blind, would it change your priorities? What kind of mate would you look for? That being said, outside appearance is important and what I mean by that is that I think it can show what's going on on the inside. If a person doesn't care about their personal hygiene, it says something. If they have to flaunt gaudy apparel or accessories, it says something. There are extremes. If I truly believe my body is the temple of the Lord, I will try to present myself in a way that honors him. Just my personal thought...:) Post Reply

Posted : 14 Mar, 2009 10:34 AM Literally Laughing Out Loud!!! :ROFL: Thank you for the clarification, but I didn't even think about that as I read your post! LOL!! I was very nasty that day! If I had been out in public, my hygiene definitly would have been called into question!! lol I do agree with you about the hygiene matters and personal attire matters. Not that I don't think we should befriend someone with these issues. Maybe being a shining light could help change their ways. You aunt must be a very trustworthy person!! Posted : 3 Apr, 2009 08:33 PM My personal viewpoint on the matter is that the inner beauty is by far the more important thing. Part of the reason I feel that way is because I myself am a little overweight. I am not horribly out of shape, I can't be if I want to stay in the military, but enough to feel a little uncomfortable with my shirt off. If I were to rely on a woman going on a date with me just because she thinks I'm attractive, then I doubt that's ever going to happen. However, I try to be a nice guy and any girl who can't look past my exterior to get to know me and see for themselves isn't someone who I really would want to date anyways. I try my best to avoid focusing on the physical aspects of women as well when I am trying to make friends or deciding who to send a message to on this site because I know that beauty is eventually going to fade. Their face and body never changed, but their personality glowed through. The only reason I think a person should lust after their spouse is because that's the body the Lord gave them. However, that is after the fact and won't change, if the two are in love. I think at that point it becomes a desire to be of one flesh. This is why, my own opinion, why someone who is married but gave their virginity away to someone else, who visits, that the first spouse will stray or lust after the person they are not married to. Initially you need the physical appearance to have intrest but its the inner beauty that will keep everything going. Physical appearance will not remain forever. True love for the inner beauty will. On physical looks Song of Solomon, read it. Nice guys finish last because they do not take the initiative, God did not make us passive as men although the emasculation of men promotes this.
