Hi Ladies
I joined CDFF a few years ago and was very active in the forums, etc, the first few months. Met a lot of new classy men and women alike who remain friends to thius day. Then I stayed away for a long time because of business and moving from Cali back to Florida. Now I'm back at CDFF and there seems to be more scammers on here than ever before. What do you think? I've been considering pursing someone from outside the USA but now having serous second thoughts about it,

How do you know if someone is a scammer? And what is meant by scammer, anyway? I've taken it as someone who wants to steal or get money from you. Is it also referring to people who want to use you for other purposes,, too? For me, whenever I get a message that sounds like a 'form letter', i.e., so generic that it could be posted to anyone, I just delete it. But there are other people who have been banned and I don't know why. Can anyone answer some of these questions?

You are correct, Hedge. There are a lot of scammers on CDFF. Fortunately they are easy to spot. It usually takes me about 5 minutes or less to weed them out, report them and they're gone.
Things to look for:
1) They send you an e-mail and they say you are the one they have chosen for a husband...you may find they have never checked your profile.
2) In their first e-mail, they will give you a Yahoo e-mail and tell you they will share pictures of themselves through Yahoo....Big Red Flag!
3) As soon as someone contacts me that I even suspect to be a scammer...I am close to 100% correct knowing this....I open Google Earth and ask them questions about the area they claim to live.
I once had someone claim they were from Denver. Denver has a place called The Pepsi Center. I asked this person if she/he had ever been to the Coke Center and they said, "yes, several times." BUSTED.
Just these three alone should weed out any scammer. If you are still not sure just e-mail me and I will check them out.
Note: Never, ever, never, ever send anyone money, no matter how sure you are that they may be real. Once you send money once, they will try to bleed you dry.
Just use your common sense. I actually came across a gal that was using a photo of a Victoria's Secret model. I know what you are saying. How would I know they are a Victoria's Secret model?
I used to be a mailman for 18 years and had delivered literally thousands of their catalogs.

People are pretty much the same all over the world...good and bad. I have been talking to woman in Kenya for almost 3 years and she is the nicest and most sincere women I have come to know. I first became her mentor and over time it has grown into so much more. She may visit me soon if she can get a visa.
Use your instinct and something that Ronald Reagan once said, "Trust but verify."
I agree with an other post that the number of scammers are about the same. They are real easy to expose though because if something feels wrong then you are probably right. Also, scammers ask to speak outside of the site as soon as possible.....BIG RED FLAG!!!

"You know a tree by its fruit," Jesus said.
I can only mention what I know about female scammers (who in some cases may actually be males with fake female profiles.)
Watch for those that have very little to say in their profile: Just look at the "wordy-language" of the body of their profile But look for more than that, since some women really have very little to say, their having spent more time i front of mirrors than Bible reading of the study of other good mind, character and faith cultivating literary works.
Yesterday I got a wink from one in her 20's who kept putting off answering my questions, like "How is it that you say you only have high school education but you say you are a nurse, which field requires several years of training beyond high school?" If you ask several questions (I don't mean highly persona ones) and she refuses to answer them, preferring to chat or text within the span of writing only messages of fewer messages on this site, chances are she is a scammer; that is, a deceiver who will try to steal money from you. These are people who we should actually pity since they evidently never read in the Bible that "Deceivers and thieves etc. will hot inherit the kingdom of God": They go to hell because they employed all their God-given means and talents to serve the lie of the devil which tends to create a bit of h##l on earth, and so they reap hereafter at least what they have sown in terms of the misery , heartache, disappointment, wasted time, etc. that they cause people through their deceptions.
Scammer types also will not read your profile in its entirety if at all and this will be clear by the fact that they will ask questions or make statements which you wrote about in the About Me" or other sections for putting in information.
I could probably write a small book about scammers whom I have encountered. Some will lead you on for weeks of correspondence to gain your confidence before they make some sort of appeal for financial assistance. FYI
