I'm just a curious guy! haha

Okay so, I was wondering about something. Perhaps this is because I'm interested in Psychological things or Sociological thinking.. But a couple things I wonder. I wonder if different women, at different ages have certain perferences in a man. I also wonder what are those preferences.

So If you want to participate and indulge my curiousity, State your age (you dont have to if you don't wish to) and the the top three things about a man's personality that you prefer (Besides loving Jesus!) and the top three physical things about a man you prefer (It may seem shallowish, but everyone prefers something I think)

I may seem weird, but this stuff really does interest me =)

God bless you all!

my age: 33

man's personality

1- usually the loud one/leader type

2- makes many of the decisions (but asks if I don't like it or not)

3- has at least one extracurricular activity outside of work that he enjoys

(Seems like those are more like examples of personalities, but that's the closest I could come up with at this late hour)

Physical things:

1- non-gray hair, preferably with some non-gray facial hair

2- taller than me, and not overly overweight

3- decent teeth

how was that?

Age: 27

Top three things about a man's personality (I am assuming that basic faith standards and moral/lifestyle standards are met):

1) A strong, solid leader who is respected by others

2) A man who is trustworthy, and who always keeps his word

3) A man who is capable of holding a good conversation on many different topics, both serious and lighthearted

Top three physical things about a man:

1) A smile that lights up his whole face and reaches his eyes

2) Fair skin and dark or red hair...and the often-present freckles that come with that! Facial hair is good too, especially a well-trimmed goatee.

3a) Good, strong, masculine hands that are clean yet obviously not afraid of work.

3b) A voice that makes me want to just sit and listen to him for hours on end.

(Yes, I had to be difficult and break the rules...I just couldn't pick between the hands and the voice, though!!!)

Thank you for your preferences! I wonder if it's the way we grew up or if we were naturally attracted to a certain type of person.

Okay, I'll play at my older age of 55. All you youngens make me feel out this box, but my young heart says go for it. I get called a cougar, but really I just want to be with someone that is young at heart like me.

Top three things or categories about a man I like:

1. Strong personality, leader type age 47 to 60.... but teachable and humble.

2. Four Ps...passionate... pliable.... playful (as in family games, dancing in the park, laughs and socializes) and personal as in one on one communicator with me and others... good eye contact.

3. Good worker but not driven..... loves people and kids...eats fairly healthy.... oh and good manners as in not belching and other body functions in public or around me.

Looks:

1. Nice, clean teeth... smiles a lot... no beard... stache is okay... good hygiene as in smells good when not working.

2.Clean hair I can run my fingers through... don't care if it's grey.... He dresses good. Not like an old man. Jeans, boots, tee shirts, dress shirts and classy dress clothes for going out kinda things.

3. Tall as me but not taller than 6 ft and not overweight by 15 pounds.

I do think that our preferences have a lot to do with the way we grew up. As a child, I was raised to appreciate personality traits 1 and 2 that I listed. If I said I would do something, I was expected to do it...and I was to do it promptly. This was also modeled by my parents and grandparents. I also saw the strong leadership qualities in my dad, who passed away when I was 12. I always admired the way he could lead a church committee, or take charge of a project where he worked, and I remember the time he brought home a thank-you card from his boss saying how valuable my dad's leadership skills were in completing a certain job. Seeing that in him makes me want something similar in a husband.

The third trait is one that I've come up with on my own based on the various guys I've known over the years. Some guys know a lot about one or two things, but can't have even the most basic of conversations about any other topics. I get tired of talking to those guys really quickly, as I personally know a lot about a few things, and at least a little about a lot of other things. (Did that make sense?)

As for physical appearance, I think it's what we are used to seeing! Nearly everyone in my family has fair skin and dark or red hair...and a lot of us have a generous sprinkling of freckles too! The other characteristics are based more on what I've learned I like from the guys I've known. Some of them have a voice that gets on my nerves like nothing else, while others could read the phone book to me and I'd sit there and listen. The hands...no clue where that came from!

The smile thing is something I stumbled on a couple years ago. A college student of mine told me, "You are always so smiley! Why do you smile so much?" It took me a while to figure it out, but it finally hit me...that student had a smile that just lit up his whole face, and it was impossible NOT to smile when I was around him! (No, I wasn't attracted to him in the least, but it got me to thinking about smiles.) I started noticing that the people I'm most drawn to tend to have amazing smiles. You know, the kind of smile that turns a plain guy into a super model, the kind of smile that causes little smile-lines around the eyes and makes the eyes sparkle, the kind of smile that could light up the world if the sun failed to come up one day.

Does that give you a little more perspective from a 27 year old girl?

So I'm going to jump in here and possibly hijack the topic. Those of you who have answered all said you want a guy who is the leader type. Well, the way I see it, there are different types of leaders. For instance, there's the type who takes the bull by the horns and handles many important things himself...sort of the guy who'd be out in front leading the charge in battle. Then there is the lead from the back type who just organizes what others do. There's also a sort of cross between the two. So what type of leader do yall want?

Good question. I want a guy who is sort of a mix between those two types of leaders. He should be able to take the bull by the horns and lead actively and forcefully when needed, but I wouldn't want him to always feel the need to be out front taking command of everything. There is nothing wrong with leading a smaller portion of a larger project, or a smaller group, or just simply giving some wise input on a matter, or even letting someone else lead entirely. A wise leader will know what KIND of leader each situation needs.

Good question, Ste~

I can handle either kind as long as he knows how to stand, lead, follow and be comfortable in his own skin.

A good leader is also a good follower and not controlling. :glow:

personality:

dedication

financial stability

compassion

looks:

healthy enough to keep up with me

neat

maybe a little on the rugged or outdoorsy side--but I'm not talking about long hair and tattoos rugged, just outdoorsy rugged--the kind of many that looks like he probably owns (and regularly uses) a tool kit and knows how to change a tire cheerfully.

I'm 38.

I used to be very interested in the adventurous types. Not so much now. Financial stability and adventure never went hand in hand in any of my relationships in the past. If one has to go, adventure does.
