So, like in real life when a woman gives you 'a look' subtle hint type thing (not the angry kind), is it the same online? An invitation to talk to her? Is there something there? I know, I know, me dumb guy. :goofball:

Not dumb at all.

Are you talking about when a woman looks at your profile? If so, that is not the same thing at all as a woman giving you a "look" in public. On dating web sites you have to look at profiles in order to see who is here. It is like opening one door at a time in a long, long hallway. Not like a party when you can stand back and check everyone out visually. You have to open each door (click on a profile) in order to "see" the person.

Does that make sense?

You can't get that discernable look of excited anticipation on line. The closest thing to 'the look' Is in ; not so much what a woman writes, but how she writes it.

Or are you talking about the women giving smoldering come-hither looks in their profile pictures?

Yeah, Brandon, you're going to have to describe the online "look" much more clearly for us to be able to answer your question. I know the "look" you are referring to in the real world, but I just don't know how that translates to the online world.

lol. No just when they make it a point to see that they viewed my profile at least once not in stealth mode. Also it seems like whenever I respond to a view it almost always gets answered. Was wondering if it was the same concept as it is in real life, like, 'hey, I'm looking at you, talk to me!'

Yeah, definitely ...unless its a guy, just checking out forum people they are talking to. I never go in 'stealth mode'

OK, that makes more sense. I suppose they could be giving the online version of "the look". I usually stay in "stealth mode" since I frequently check out profiles of people on the forums...sometimes they say something on here that is clarified when I read the profile. However, I have been known to view a profile in stealth mode, then change my settings and go back and intentionally view it so that the guy KNOWS I viewed it. I haven't had any luck with that, though. Usually, if I seriously want to talk to someone, I'll just send a wink (which I think is a more obvious version of "the look") or a message. Of course, I haven't had much luck with those either.

Shortly after joining this site (summer of '09), I viewed a profile of a guy who showed up in my matches. I think it matched us based on a keyword or something. He lived a long ways away from me, though, so I didn't send him a message. A few days later, he sent me a short message saying that it looked like we might have a lot in common. I replied, and "the rest is history!" We are good friends now (still mostly online friends, though we've met in person and talked on the phone some). The distance has kept us from being more than friends, but a solid friendship did come as a result of me viewing his profile!

Are we talking about the look that says "dude, you are dead meat?"

When you view anothers profile you show up on their list of 'who viewed their profile'. But you can go into settings and and make it so you can view others profiles without showing up on the list of who viewed them. I have never used it, so can't say,"exactly" how to do it. But if I did wouldn't that make me a cyberspace peeping Tom???
