Too young or too old?

I won't mention numbers here, but what do you think of a guy that is too young or too old for you? This guy is that perfect kind of guy but he is too young/too old for you.

The last 3 girlfriends I had were several years older than me, and they all said they didn't date younger. I kind of came to the conclusion that if a girl like a guy enough, she'll ignore his age (assuming he isn't like 17 or something)

My ex-fiance was 3 years younger than me... But, I have to admit that it does make me think twice if I guy is younger! Tulip is right, though.

My boyfriend (InHisHonor) is 41.

And I've usually dated guys around 10 years older than me, I guess (haven't really dated that much, actually). My first boyfriend was the instructor for this writing class I took my freshman year of college. I don't remember exactly how old he was, but he was in his early 30s... And I had just turned 19.

Yes, InHisHonour and I became involved around the end of May =) So, it's still pretty early on in the relationship, but things seems to be progressing well.

We actually met on a Christian singles Facebook group. I noticed him on the discussion forum. His picture was super cute and I just really liked the way he interacted with people. He was respectful and kind and never flirty. And he seemed to know the Bible really well and be grounded in his faith.

But... I became romantically involved w/ someone else shortly after noticing InHisHonour, and I was in that relationship from late last October until early February... But after we broke things off, I became more active on the Christian singles group again and felt really attracted to IHH. So, I sent him a friend request and we started talking privately and have talked for several hours a night nearly every day since then.

We were just friends at first, and I was kinda hoping for more because I was very attracted to him. But, because of the long distance issue, I was slightly nervous about it too. And I didn't want to be the one to admit my feelings/attraction first, so I certainly tried to keep things platonic. And he did too! I honestly had no clue he was even the slightest bit attracted to me really until May.

Part of the reason I thought he wasn't attracted to me is because he invited me to join this site... And I was sitting there to myself, "Okay, he's totally NOT attracted to me if he's suggesting that I join a dating site." So, I was a little crushed when that happened. But, this site gave us a good opportunity to get to know each better.

But anyways, so May rolled around and I was babbling on about my lip gloss one night, which led him into making a comment about my lips that was NOT platonic!! And I was so totally shocked that I just kind of ignored the comment, I think... LOL But then, a day or so later, we discussed it and decided that we didn't want things to be platonic anymore =)

So, now we are an "item" and I'm really enjoying him and hope/pray that the two of keep God at the centre of things and honour him in how we interact w/ each other and whatnot.

That's our story. Thus far.

I've had to discourage someone 17 years older, and one that was 13 years younger. In both cases there were other reasons they were not right for me. If it happens again, the man would have to be persistent and I would have to know it was really the right thing. Then, it wouldn't matter.

@Jesusloves: Let's see, with the first one, I was 19 and she was 22, with the second, I was 20 and she was 24, and with the third, I was 20 and she was 22. I never really set out to date older, but dating younger girls kind of seems weird. I actually recently met this really cool girl through a campus ministry, but she's two years younger than me, so I've been forced to reconsider my aversion to dating younger girls. We'll see how that goes. I mean, if she graduates on time, we'll only graduate a year apart, which really isn't that out of the ordinary. I have tended to fit in with an older crowd though, so maybe that explains why I end up dating older. There might be a little bit of pride in the fact that girls don't usually date younger too.

The age issue is something we all think about at times. Many people have told me age is just a number, and I know of several people that have age differences in their marriage of seven to thirty years difference and they all have stayed married for years, and some for decades. However, I know of several who marry close to their age and end in divorce. Why I do not understand. About forty to fifty percent of the later marriaged survive in seems. Finding the one that is in God's perfect will and plan and remaining true/faithful to them and God can make it work, like Ruth and Boaz... :applause:

I feel that age is a number. I would never date anybody that was more than 20 years older than me. My last dating relationship- The man was 15 years older. And the one before that, He was 17.5 years older. I do understand that older men want different things than men my own age. I feel that it may come down to want you are willing to give GOd. If GOd gives you a perfect man to marry... then marry him. Only trust in God
