I don't know...I've never been too big on pet names personally. I guess I wouldn't want a guy to call me a pet name in public at any point.

In private, though, I think it might be a sweet gesture of affection as long as it isn't overdone or too syrupy sweet. Honestly, it gives me the warm fuzzies much more when a guy calls me by my real name...just hearing him say my name...ahh, so nice! :hearts: LOL!

Two pet names that I hate: Baby and Babe. It somehow doesn't seem very respectful. I don't know why!

if he is my husband probably wanting something lol

if he is my boss probably asking for something and then wanting something lol

my thoughts on if it is apporpriate or not is I guess it depends on how it is commented, who it is and so forth. I have had women do it and I usually just move on with my business...I dont really want to say its ok or not I just dont let it offend me because I think if it gets out of line I can take control then. lol hope this helps...GivenLife

I've let a few know that it's not appropriate to call women on this site pet names, especially "baby"

Not trying to speak for everyone but that is no way to speak to a princess. (Unless of course it's your hubby)

OMGGGGG GIIIIRL LOL. It honestly agitates me and weirds me out when men do this. When they call me honey or sweetheart and I don't know them very well at all!!!! Even if I did know them well, I would not ever let them call me that unless we were dating, and even then they better flippin ask me or wait until we've been together for a while and the feeling is mutual. Otherwise, I think this is a creepy NO-NO! :waving:

i always feel like a guy is being condescending when they call me "dear" and i initially class the guy as a perv for the others. but if its a bf then no prob, EXCEPT for dear....just makes then seem so oooold.

It depends on the intonation and the relationship.

If the name is said condescendingly, I have a problem. If said carinosamente.....it makes me smile.

I have to agree with Elisa. If the relationship doesn't warrant calling me "darling"... it feels kinda ikky. ~GraceMae

I don't mind it bit.......as long as I know the man well enough. I've had to tell men "Please don't call me that" before when they jumped right in with "baby" or "honey" or whatever.

I like being called those things..... as long as he still remembers my given name and calls me by that. Otherwise ---- I could be any 'ole girl he's talking to and not me, myself, I.

I do like special names given because you are truly someone special in their life..... its a little somethign ahresd by just the two of you.

However...... (and this is a big HOWEVER) when it comes too early in the relationship, it seems as though he is calling me other names so he doesn't have to remember my name. That leaves me feeling unappreciated and a little taken advantage of..... Does anyone else have those thoughts?
