What makes you feel unappreciated?

I was surprised by how many responses I got to my question re: education, thank you all, so much!!!!! What do guys do or not do that makes you feel, well, unappreciated? Feel free to be blunt and honest, as you all know by now men need things spelled out for them...

Not being listened to is a big one for me. All my advice does not need to be followed, nor do I need all my ideas rejoiced over or a pat on the back for each one. I just need to know I am being listened to and taken seriously.

Lack of physical contact

Going a month without a compliment

There is probably more, but those are the ones that come immediately to mind. Thanks for asking!

I agree with godslamb. Even though you tell us once we're beautiful and we have good self-esteem, we need to hear it every now and then - out of the blue is even better :) The spoken word has a tremendous affect on a woman's heart as long as it's genuine and with pure motives :)

-If you ask for my advice, and you don't take it... then someone else tells you the same things and you act on what they've told you (..which is just what I got through telling you!) Hello.... after repeated cycles of this... unappreciated. Yes. Why ask me then?

-When I do simple little things, like offer to type a paper or help you fix your computer or give you tips on anything... you feel it's expected because I know it ought to just do it-- no thank you is required. When what I do goes un-noticed, after awhile I do feel unappreciated.. Like why bother anymore.

- If I'm supposed to meet you somewhere, you just take for granted I'm gonna just stay and wait forever? No phone call to say, hey running late, or we gotta reschedule. Unappreciated. Yes. (Also a TURN OFF--- I should've put that in the other post!)

SWB, Thanks for asking !! ~ GraceMae

i have great daughters, who i believe have been greatly influenced and parented by me primarily. I remember one compliment about my motherhood from my ex... ONE.

i want to be appreciated when i work the career and gave up "fun" time and "exercise" time and "watching sports on tv" time, as i was running the household and making sure we had health insurance, and the girls had what they needed.

so this is still sensitive to alot of us, even though it's been a couple of years!

Guess, i want to be appreciated for what i give and give up for a relationship. Oh, and i agree with the others, my intellect and beauty. :dancingp:

To me it's the dramatic roll of the eyes when I bring up a concern, followed by the protracted sigh.

Cattle...

You are right. Being taken for granted makes one feel a bit worthless and unappreciated.... especially when the only thing it would take to change it is a genuine smile or a thank you.

The thing that makes me feel the most unappreciated is when I know there are other things in a higher priority position than me. The biggest indicator of that is where my special someone chooses to spend his free time. I understand completely that we all have to work and there are some tasks that are unavoidable...(I am not meaning to sound like I need to be placed on a pedestal and worshipped!) But, when he doesn't know I am even in the same house because the TV is on, or when he chooses to go out with friends over dinner with me...consistantly, or his time with a video game replaces the conversations we used to have....

i agree, i agree. Where one finds their treasure is where they spend their "free" time... it IS about choices. We make time for what we want to do and in essence what is important to us, right? right!
