Hey Ladies! I've been reading some of the posts here and have found a lot of comments about not responding to short messages. Tell me about the message you would respond to.

Thank you ladies!

_Derek

I've gotten quite a few short messages, and I have to tell ya, when the only substance in a message is "hey, how are you"... it doesn't show any personality, or even enough care to ask a couple questions or anything. I personally like long, wordy messages, but even a paragraph is a relief from one liners. Single sentences don't make for much conversation unless the recipient is really talkative XD

Just my two cents ^^

I don't look at length so much as a combination of the content and the sender's profile. I agree that messages that say no more than "Hey how are you" don't usually earn a reply. But long isn't always good either. One of the best things I have done on here was answer an e-mail that made me curious...the sender's profile didn't say much, but the e-mail was just really simple and sweet...it made me want to learn more about the sender, so I answered it!

I agree with the above. I would say that the majority of the messages I get are nothing more than "Hey, how are you?" I am much more likely to respond to someone who takes the time to ask me about something in my profile.

Correct grammar and spelling also go a long way with me. ;-)

dear folks, to me i find nothin wrong with just sayin hi ,how are ya? isnt that the polite thing that most people do when they meet someone for the first time or even when we speak by phone? it will also let you know if someones interisted in you also as they will write you back.. and then the real conversations will start to happen..

as for correct spellin and grammar well, that definitely aint me so ill just be myself..

Cattleman, you aint gonna be by yourself~~~You are too much of a rare bird with your kindness and realness. :applause:

I don't mind a "hi, how are ya" if it has something like nice profile or saw you in the forums, would you like to start a conversation?

Anyway, I was talking your lingo Cattleman, cause I like them cowboys~~~by the way~always check with the spell check on here when in doubt but that should not make that big of a difference if it's one or two words misspelled. :purpleangel:

Ole Cattle, you just keep on with your own brand of spelling and grammar!

As for the "Hi how are you" messages, I only mean that I don't like to get that in a first e-mail type of message. In an IM, it's perfectly fine. If someone wants to start an e-mail communication with me, they need to put in a little more effort. Like I said, I don't need anything lengthy, just something simple that shows some personality. Give me something to respond TO! If I meet someone in person, I can come up with conversation topics like mutual friends, the location we happen to be in, something going on around us, etc. Online, that's harder to do, and my reply would likely be just as short: "Fine, thanks, and you?" In real-time, that would be over in a few seconds and we would move on to another subject. When you have to wait for someone to check their e-mails, read the message, reply to the message, wait for you to check, read, and reply...well, it gets tedious and I'd move on long before we got the niceties out of the way.

Of course, that's all just my own opinion. I realize that a lot of girls might not agree with me, and that most guys probably won't either!

dear joey and bc, aww now yawl are sweet. thanks

ya know i just figure if someones gonna be interisted in you then it dont matter much what you say , long as its not anything out the way ... theyll write back if theyre interisted ... i mean ive wrote silly things and just the word hi and all and got responses so i just dont think it matters alot.. but it seems i was wrong as it does matter to some..

and youre not wrong for that either.. its your preference.. thats cool..
