For Christians, there should be Only 3 types of

Relationships.

brother/sister in Christ

Betroth

Marriage

This was on Christian talk radio WLUJ

Actually, Christians on dateing sites should not really be Dating according to this.

In one word: Ridiculous

I can understand what they may be trying to say, but it is really an oversimplification to the extent it becomes downright false.

As Christians we shouldn't have relationships with unbelievers? Sure we shouldn't be unequally yoked with unbelievers but we are also called to be a witness to them. How can we do that without forming meaningful relationships?

What about parents? Assuming they are Christians the brother/sister in Christ category cannot accurately portray that time of relationship.

I'm sure there are many other inconsistencies with limiting all relationships to those three categories but it is late and I must sleep :zzzz: lol

"Don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4

2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1 "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the Living God." 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1

"Do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good character..." 1 Corinthians 15:33

These are just a few of the many scriptures that warn believers to not mingle with unbelievers and not just for marriage sake. You can minister to unbelievers without having fellowship with them. Live according to Christ's example, so then you can set an example of your own to all those around you. :)

"What about parents? Assuming they are Christians the brother/sister in Christ category cannot accurately portray that time of relationship." -We are all children of God, so therefore we are all brothers and sisters including your parents, employer, neighbors, etc..My opinion about Christian dating: I believe dating is okay since it can fall into the brother/sister category as long as sexual relations are not involved and God is in the center.

This post is referring to a man/woman relationship in regards to dating. This is a dating site and we make friends for what ever reasons on these kind of sites. The bible teaches that man/woman relationships should be biblical based, if you are a Christian. So many on these sites are not Christian.

"Friendship with the world" does not equal friendship with unbelievers. It means to be set apart from the rest of the world... as believers we should stand out from the rest of the world and others should know to Whom we belong just by the way we act. We should not "blend in" with the world.

I believe that we can be a witness to non-believers without being friends with them, but I think that we would probably have a bigger impact on them if we knew them personally. That is not saying we should be best friends with them... our closest friends should be other believers. But I don't believe that verse is talking about it the way that you are applying it.

I agree with Katie here. We need to be careful when focusing on one single verse and extrapolating more than is there especially outside of it's context. The Bible also calls us to be in the world but not a part of it. This side of heaven we will interact with, work with, and rub shoulders with unbelievers I think effective witness is often achieved by investing time and getting to know people. By knowing about someone we can more effectively share the gospel in a way that can reach them, as opposed to keeping them at a distance and preaching at them which has a better chance of turning them off to the gospel than drawing them to it.

Look at Paul, till Paul became an Apostle the gentiles were considered unreachable and lost and not to be associated with as if they were unclean and even associating with them would somehow make you unclean. Pauls main role was to bring the gospel to the Gentiles and Jews alike. Another example is Christ, who was known as the friend of sinners. Why? Because he waived at them from a distance? No, because he spent time with them and sought them out personally. It wasn't the righteous Christ came to save, it was the sinners, like you and me. I think when we take the view that we should not associate, keep a distance from, or isolate ourselves from non believers we are in effect acting like the Pharasees who thought they were better than those who they saw as sinners and wanted nothing to do with them.

So your saying that in a courting relationship you don't need a christian? Man im all sorts of confused! Lol! I don't think being on here is considered dating its making friends and seeing where God leads it! If God leads it then its God in it!

Having been married to a man that had no belief in God was the hardest thing both spiritually and mentally!

having God lead the relationship in both is the only way to go!

So whether dating or married God needs to be at the top of it!
