I got a bit of a rant....

..you know surfing through profiles can be...dishearteing sometimes, especially when you fall just outside of the age range. Howewver, how in the world can you be 30 and have your limit set only two years older??!! Seriously!!!???

*Disclaimer...I relaize everyone has a preferance, and telling me so will just be redundant* :)

I would like to hear some of the more...extreme standards ya'll have come across.. I remember this ladies profile who said she was 6'0 with heels on (otherwise shes like 5'6) and she would not accept a man shorter than that for that reason.

hi. i think i have an age range set on my profile. yes, i guess it's preference. or maybe the need to be with someone older than you hoping you won't have to go through all those idealistic young men with high expectations. then on the other hand i thought, you can have a guy who's as mature and wise as any other older guy. bit of a realization, huh. age is just a number so they say.

Well Rabbit the problem isn't your age but the preferences stated that are beyond redundant. Preferances are limiting what can be done in your life through God.

My ranting is with professing Christians that go over above and beyond by saying this:

1. We're not children anymore so let's explore our chemistry.

2. You are older than 55...(same as your rant)

3. How about meeting for a drink at a nice bar? (like what???)

4. You're too Christian. (I actually had a man say this after we met.)

God bless these people and I am sure they feel within their heart what they've stated in the profile and/or have said has been nothing wrong.

It is their stated preferences that is limiting God to what He can do in their lifes...me included.

hehe, I used to be one of those ladies where my age limit was about 5 years older, my reason: while i'm in my 20s i want a man in the same age cos i want to grow old with him.

But then I personally thought and prayed about it, then i realized... if I marry a man 20 years my senior and am happiest girl on the face of the planet, so what? I'd rather be married for 20 years absolutely in blissful happiness with this strong character lion of a man then 40 plus years satisfied yes... but not as happy. I don't want to be married thinking "what if i went with this other man who was much older then me..." I want to enter my marriage with "I am my beloved and my beloved is mine... my search has ended, my love has awoken and begun"!

As for the Lady in high heels... hehe, ok... sigh, I have a confession, i'm not AS extreme as she, but me who is 5'4 I want a man atleast 5'7 up to 6'5! I don't need a man like that, but I would like a man like that, for me my reason is: I love looking up at a man, I mean literally, theres something about having a man taller then a woman that is sortof (to me again) symbolic of an overpowering presence, a sense of protection and intimidation to those who may want to cross a line against her, its comforting and secure to me. Also (a little on my girly side) I would like to look up at him to gaze into his eyes, rest my head on his chest, lift my lips to his or to his cheek instead of looking down (hehe). Hey, i'm being honest... shallow... perhaps, but that (again) is what I WANT... not what I need. Shoot, I may end up marrying a man shorter then me, and you know what? i'm darn ok with that! For in the end its the character of a man that stands out to me and his passionate zest for the Lord that is appealing and oh so attractive to me. so there you go... my point of view. haha :)

Hi, lilo86! :waving:

I know what cha mean about liking someone taller than you for the reasons you stated ... I've had this problem too with some gals who are taller than me wanting guys that are taller than I am, presumably, or even blantantly stated, so that THEY can look up at their guy too, honey ... partly because, I think, of the "young people's arthritis" that attacked my body when I was 16 years old and several years spent in a wheelchair before a series of operations made it possible for me to be up walking around again with the help of a pair of half crutches for the rest of my life, I am shorter than I woud have normally been ... I have a degree of curvature to my spine too that has shortened my height from how tall I might have been ... which I estimate would have been 'bout 5 feet 7 or 5 feet 8 ... and I am now 'bout 5 feet 2, in my BarefootGuyToLove bare feet, lilo86 ... anyway ...

I just wanted to say that I know that the guy doesn't really HAVE TO BE a lot taller for the gal to enjoy looking UP to him ... she just needs to sit on the floor by his legs or side, like my ex-fiancee used to LOVE to do and gaze up lovingly at me and kiss and hug from this position ... as well as, just snuggle lower in the guy's arms as you are sitting together on the loveseat or couch or lying in the grass on a barefoot picnic etc, gazing lovingly up at him from THIS position and enjoying resting your head on his chest and/or shoulder!!! :dancingp::dancingp::dancingp::yay::yay::yay::applause::applause::applause::hearts::hearts::hearts: This works too to take care of any height differences ... I sooooooo LOVE it when a gal is willing, because she truly LOVES me, to make it possible for herself to enjoy gazing up at me, lovingly, in THESE ways, lilo68!!! :hearts::hearts::hearts:

Love you, Sis in Christ,

Your Short Brother in Christ,

Steve

Sorry lilo, just couldnt stop myself. I know what you mean though, I would love to have someone who shorter than me. Being 6 foot, thats usually most women. Actually, someone about 5 10 would be nice, but shorter women would be great to. It is a lot easier to feel like you could protect someone when they are smaller than you.

Extreme? I don't know if this is an extreme example, but I have seen again and again (very consistently) that men in their 50's (50-59) will have an age range of 28-42. Or thereabouts.

The other "extreme" I have seen pretty often are people who say they are "Christian" but with the first few emails the ess eee exxx word comes up. It is pretty clear what is really on in their minds.

I don't get the whole tall thing myself. I was married to someone 6'3" and engaged once to someone 6'4", and I MUCH prefer someone who is under 5'10". To each their own I guess.
