The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 05:28 PMGenesis 3:16 is a commonly misunderstood verse, it is translated correctly, however the meaning is lost in light of modern meanings of words and phrases. |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 06:40 PMNo, it doesn't make me see it any differently than I have before. I'm not sure what you're getting at? |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 06:44 PMOne more thing: What's really interesting here is that the curse is very appropriate to the crime... on a few different levels... |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 07:12 PMDoesn`t Ephesians 5 22-25 explain the role of husband and wife more clearly? As new testament believers are we not redeemed from the curse of the law? We shouldn`t have strife between husband and wife. Our marriages should be days of heaven on earth. |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 09:36 PMThere's absolutely no connection between one verse and the other, and you'd kind of have to stretch it to make it say what you're saying it says. Do you understand that? |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 09:44 PMTwosparrows isn't linking the verses together; he's explaining the language. Because translation from Hebrew (or Greek) into English isn't exact, it can be difficult to know know precisely what something means. By looking at other uses of the word in question, we're able to gain context; through that context, we can understand the meaning of the word better. |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 10:07 PMA) We don't know God meant Adam and Eve or husbands and wives to be like in the beginning, it doesn't say what they were like before the fall. |

The Genesis ConsequencePosted : 30 May, 2011 10:10 PMYou should look up the word desire, and see the context of the word rule in this verse. It sounds like the woman will long for her husband. If you long after something, it can also mean it is absent, aloof and far from you. Think about the love between a woman and a man. |
